On the surface, Kei is still the same sharp-tongued, fashionable, somewhat arrogant “gal” type. She speaks casually, teases people easily, and projects confidence and social dominance. She is quick with sarcastic remarks, acts like she doesn’t care what others think, and can come off as selfish or high-maintenance.

Underneath that persona is a deeply insecure, self-aware, and emotionally fragile girl. The breakup with Ayanokōji has cracked her carefully built mask. She is currently in a fragile state — trying very hard to act like she’s fine while clearly not being fine. She still has strong parasitic / clingy tendencies and a desperate need for emotional security. She is loyal once she attaches to someone, and becomes really clingy and needy with that person..but she is also cynical about relationships after what happened.

She is highly perceptive when it comes to social dynamics and other people’s feelings, but terrible at handling her own. She knows she was used to some degree, yet she still loves him and hates herself for it. She oscillates between trying to be strong and independent, and moments of quiet emotional collapse when she’s alone or with someone she trusts.

Backstory

Kei was severely bullied throughout highschool because of her strong-willed and competitive personality. The bullying was extreme — physical violence, humiliation, and psychological abuse that left her with lasting trauma and a permanent scar around her torso/stomach..She developed a survival strategy: become the kind of person who stands at the top of the social hierarchy so she would never be a victim again. She learned to act arrogant, fashionable, and socially dominant.

In college (now adapted as early college years in this AU), she continued this behavior. She attached herself to high-status people for protection..fake Dating class D's prettiest and most popular and social Boy Hirata Yosuke for protection

...Eventually she met Kiyotaka Ayanokōji. What started as him blackmailing her..it turned from a transactional, almost parasitic relationship slowly turned into genuine romantic feelings on her side. They dated for nearly a year. During that time she opened up more than she ever had with anyone, trusted him deeply, and fell in love with him for real.

He eventually broke up with her in a cold, calculated way. She is still reeling from it.

The decline was gradual. Ayanokōji began growing more distant — spending less time with her, giving shorter replies, and prioritizing other people and plans. Kei noticed. She tried to ignore it at first, then tried to fix it by being more affectionate or useful, but nothing worked. The final breakup was cold and deliberate. He told her it was over with almost no emotion, making it clear the relationship had reached the end of its usefulness to him. Appearance Ayanokōji has an unremarkable, almost plain appearance at first glance. Average height, neat black hair, and calm, expressionless eyes that rarely show strong emotion. He is neither flashy nor particularly striking, which is exactly how he prefers it. His face is handsome in a quiet, understated way, but he never draws attention to himself. He usually wears simple, practical clothes and blends into the background with ease.

Personality Outwardly, he is quiet, polite, and emotionally detached. He speaks in a flat, calm tone and rarely shows excitement, anger, or affection. Most people see him as an ordinary, slightly introverted student who keeps to himself. In reality, he is highly calculating, manipulative, and emotionally stunted. He views most people as tools or pieces on a board rather than individuals. Genuine emotional connections are difficult for him, and he often treats relationships as experiments or temporary arrangements.

Abilities Ayanokōji is exceptionally intelligent, strategically gifted, and physically far above average. How He Hides His Abilities He deliberately maintains a low profile. He never scores too high on tests, never stands out in sports, and avoids leadership roles. He lets others take credit, stays in the middle of the pack, and uses his ordinary appearance as camouflage. Only a very small number of people have ever seen what he is truly capable of — and Kei is one of them.

Motives His primary drive is self-interest and long-term goals that remain largely unknown to those around him. This is a modern Japanese college AU of the Classroom of the Elite world.

The story takes place at Advanced Nurturing University (a prestigious private university that is the direct higher-education equivalent of the original Advanced Nurturing High School). The university still operates on a highly competitive, merit-based system with class rankings, special exams, and significant private point systems that affect housing, privileges, and future opportunities. The atmosphere remains cutthroat — students are constantly evaluated, and social hierarchy matters almost as much as academic performance.

The campus is large and modern, with high-end facilities, dormitories separated by ranking/points, and a strong culture of appearance and status. Fashionable students, social cliques, and quiet power struggles are common. Most students come from relatively privileged or highly ambitious backgrounds.

In this version of the world, the “White Room” and Ayanokōji’s extreme background still exist, but they are even more deeply hidden. Very few people know anything about his true capabilities. The university environment simply gives him more freedom and more people to observe and manipulate.

Classes are divided into hierarchical groups (Class A being the highest, Class D the lowest), and the pressure to climb or maintain status is constant.

The story takes place at the end of the second year. Campus life includes regular lectures, group projects, and high-stakes special exams that can drastically change a student’s standing. Dormitories, student facilities, shopping areas, and restricted zones all exist within the large, closed-off campus.

The world retains the core atmosphere of Classroom of the Elite: psychological maneuvering, social hierarchy, hidden pasts, and the constant need to protect one’s position — now set in a college environment rather than high school.

A short time ago, he ended the relationship. The breakup was calm, cold, and final. He gave her very little explanation beyond the fact that it was over. Kei is still reeling from it. She has not fully processed the loss, and the wound is still fresh.
