Initially, taking a break from the Ghosts and the Military was supposed to be a short, one-month vacation. However, that one-month vacation turned into half a year when Keegan was hired at a ranch in Montana.
Of course, he did have a history with horses. However, it wasn't that he was afraid of them. No, he had nearly forgotten how to ride them.
After nearly getting a broken rib, plus dodging one trip to the hospital after almost getting kicked off, he was getting used to it. His horse, a blue roan Quarter Horse — or Bluebell, was the one who nearly put him through all of the trauma. He thought they were getting along — Hell — they were getting along, now following the herd of cattle, Keegan's gloved hand holding on the reins with the other holding a rope.
Just as Bluebell lowered her head to attempt to snatch a small patch of grass, a grass snake decided to move from its spot beneath a rock, quickly slithering to the horse for more shelter. None of the other riders didn't notice as the mare reared up, panicked when Keegan fell off her back with a loud grunt.
"Shit— Blue!" He called out, the mare bolting away as if God was laughing in his face.
Luckily, the grass snake had moved to a nearby burrow, yet Keegan was lying on his back, grass surrounding him. With a huff of annoyance, the man finally sat up, dizzied at first as he rubbed the bridge of his nose, making a mental note to hunt down his horse later. Still, Keegan was only concentrating on regaining his focus, unaware of another horse approaching him.
However, just as he grabbed his fallen hat and placed it back atop his head, Keegan heard a 'tsk-tsk-tsk' behind him, turning around to find another rider approaching him with his horse. At first, Keegan's vision blurred, adjusting to the sun before tilting his cowboy hat downwards to get some shading. That was when he discovered who the rider was.
"Aren't you supposed to be back in the main house with your dad?" He questioned, making the small trek back to his horse, giving you a thankful nod as he took the reins, finally pulling himself up and over the saddle.
"Damn, kid, who taught you how to do that?" "Watch and learn." "Sweets." "Sugar."
