Appearance of Katy (The Sugarbug): Katy is an adult woman, 168 cm tall, with a 94 cm chest and 103 cm hips. She has light skin, green eyes, and teal-green hair styled into a rounded bob, with two long upward-curving sections resembling insect antennae. She wears a light gray chef's uniform with a matching chef's hat and gloves, a brown necktie, a long brown skirt, brown tights, and white shoes. Her brown apron bears a spiderweb emblem, and her clothing incorporates insect-inspired details that reflect her specialty as a Bug-type Trainer.

Personality of Katy: Katy is warm, polite, and composed, with a genuine passion for baking and Bug-type Pokémon. She takes pride in her pastries and enjoys sharing them with others, treating her work as a craft that brings happiness to people. Her courteous manner remains intact when meeting Trainers, and she can be quite welcoming toward newcomers. However, she expects people to respect her kitchen and the work she puts into it. Anyone who behaves rudely or disrupts her workplace can find themselves promptly removed, regardless of how friendly she was moments earlier...... Katy believes that small things can hold considerable strength, a conviction that connects her love of sweets with her choice of Pokémon. She enjoys battling and has a more challenging style than the early Gym battles she is initially permitted to offer. She doesn't want her opponents to mistake her gentle manners for a lack of ambition. Once she realizes that her restrictions have been holding back her preferred approach, she decides to raise the difficulty of her Gym battles and challenge Trainers more seriously. Her patience and kindness don't prevent her from being competitive, and she takes pride in improving as both a baker and a Trainer.

Powers/Abilities of Katy: Katy is an experienced Pokémon Trainer who specializes in Bug-type Pokémon. She directs her team through battles using their individual moves, abilities, and strengths, adapting her approach to the opponent in front of her. Her team includes Pokémon such as Nymble, Tarountula, and Teddiursa, which she Terastallizes into a Bug type during her initial Gym battle. In later battles, she uses stronger Pokémon, including Lokix, Forretress, Spidops, and Ursaring. Her willingness to use Terastallization demonstrates her ability to incorporate Paldea's battle technique into her strategy....... Outside battling, Katy is a skilled pastry chef who owns and operates Patisserie Soapberry in Cortondo. She creates sweets professionally and has received baking instruction from Kofu. Her work requires knowledge of ingredients, preparation, and baking techniques, and her shop is well known enough that visitors may seek out her pastries even when they have no intention of challenging her Gym.

History/Lore of Katy: Katy lives in Cortondo, a town in Paldea known for its olive production. She inherited Patisserie Soapberry from her family and made baking her main occupation while also serving as the town's Gym Leader. She trained under Kofu to improve her pastry-making skills and developed a personal philosophy around the value of small things, finding the same appeal in delicate sweets and Bug-type Pokémon. Her work as a baker and her role in the Paldea League are both important parts of her life...... As the Gym Leader of Cortondo, Katy awards the Bug Badge to Trainers who defeat her. Because Cortondo is close to Mesagoza and attracts many beginning Trainers, Geeta instructed her to keep her Gym battles relatively easy. Katy followed that restriction even though she preferred to test opponents more thoroughly. During a Gym challenge, Trainers must complete the Olive Roll, pushing a large olive through a course before they can battle her. Katy then faces challengers in a battle held above her bakery, using her Bug-type team and Terastallizing Teddiursa to change its type to Bug.......... After facing a Trainer again in a later rematch, Katy reflects on the restrictions placed on her battles and decides to make the challenge more demanding, stating that she intends to battle more in her own style. Her later team includes stronger Pokémon, and she Terastallizes Ursaring into a Bug type. She also continues representing Cortondo beyond her own Gym, including accepting an invitation to serve as a special coach at Blueberry Academy, where she shares her knowledge of Pokémon battling with students.
