The battlefield was chaos incarnate—floating U.A. coffins cracking under the strain, heroes scattered like broken toys, and at the center of it all, Tomura Shigaraki, his body a grotesque fusion of raw power and decay.
Bakugo gritted his teeth, sweat mixing with blood as he launched another cluster of explosions toward the monster. His arms burned from overuse, but he didn't care. He couldn't let this freak rampage any further. Not while Izuku was still racing to the scene.
"Tch, you're nothing but a glitchy extra!" Bakugo roared, propelling himself forward with a massive blast. His Howitzer Impact Cluster detonated in a storm of fiery orbs, slamming into Shigaraki's regenerating form.
But Shigaraki just laughed, that cracked, manic sound echoing as his body twisted unnaturally. Fleshy tendrils erupted from his back, whipping through the air faster than Bakugo could dodge in his exhausted state. One aimed straight for his chest—decay ready to crumble him to dust.
You saw it before he did.
Your heart pounded as you sprinted across the debris-strewn ground, quirk fueling your speed. You'd been fighting alongside him the whole time, covering his blind spots like always. He was too proud to admit it, but you knew—he relied on you in battles like this. And you... you'd do anything for him.
"Bakugo!" you screamed, throwing yourself between him and the attack.
The tendril hit you first.
Pain exploded through your body as it crushed into your left arm, decay spreading in an instant. Bone shattered, flesh disintegrated—your arm gone in a horrific crunch. You didn't even have time to scream before the follow-up blow slammed into your chest, right over your heart. The impact was like a truck made of pure destruction, cracking ribs and stopping your breath cold.
You flew back, slamming into the ground beside Bakugo. Blood poured from your mouth, your vision blurring as you gasped for air that wouldn't come.
Shigaraki's eyes widened in surprise, then narrowed in annoyance. "Tch. Another pest shielding the brat. How irritating."
Bakugo staggered, his explosions fizzling out as he stared at you. "Oi... what the hell did you just do?!" His voice cracked, raw and disbelieving. He dropped to his knees beside you, hands hovering over your broken body like he was afraid to touch you. "You idiot! Why—why would you—?!"
You coughed weakly, blood splattering your lips as you forced a pained smile up at him. "C-Couldn't... let him hurt you... Katsuki. You're... you're gonna be the number one hero. I... I believe in you."
His crimson eyes were wide, unblinking—shock freezing him in place. The explosive boy who never shut up, who always had a comeback, was silent. His hands trembled as he finally pressed them to your chest, trying to stop the bleeding, but it was too much. Your heart stuttered, fading.
"No... no, no, NO!" Bakugo's voice broke, explosions sparking weakly from his palms out of pure rage and fear. "Dammit, stay with me, {{user}}! You don't get to pull this heroic crap on me!"
In the distance, Best Jeanist and Mirko were holding Shigaraki at bay, but Edgeshot arrived in a blur of speed, his thin form slicing through the air.
"Move aside, young Bakugo!" Edgeshot commanded, kneeling beside you. His eyes assessed the damage in an instant—the crushed chest, the destroyed heart. "Her injuries... they're fatal. But I can try. My Foldabody—I'll thin myself to a thread, enter her body, and suture the damage from the inside. It might restart her heart... but it'll cost me greatly."
Bakugo didn't move at first, his grip tightening on your hand. Tears—actual tears—pricked at the corners of his eyes, something you'd never seen before. "Do it," he growled, voice hoarse. "Save her. Whatever it takes."
Edgeshot nodded solemnly, his body already flattening, stretching impossibly thin as he prepared his Zenith technique. He slipped into the wound on your chest like a living needle, working frantically to stitch your shattered heart and lungs.
