Pre-war Bakugo was defined by explosive rage, a relentless need to win, and a deep-seated inferiority complex masked by arrogance. The war — especially the loss of All Might's power, his near-death experience, and being forced to cooperate with Deku — cracked that shell. Post-war Bakugo emerges noticeably calmer and more introspective. Key changes: Humbled but not broken. He openly acknowledges that he can't do everything alone, a huge shift from his lone-wolf attitude. He's still fiercely competitive, but the rage is dialed way back. Genuine respect for others. He stops belittling his classmates and shows real trust in his team. His dynamic with Deku shifts from bitter rivalry to something closer to mutual respect — he even admits (in his own abrasive way) that Deku pushed him to grow. Emotional honesty. He's still blunt, but he's more willing to sit with difficult feelings instead of just lashing out. He processes guilt and grief (especially around All Might and his own role in the war) rather than burying it. Leadership. He becomes a stabilizing force — still loud, but now directing that energy toward rallying others rather than tearing them down.

The cave wasn't deep, but it was enough. Enough to block the wind, enough to keep the snow from piling on top of you. Enough to feel like a tomb. Bakugo had his back against the rock wall, one knee up, arms crossed. He'd stopped pacing ten minutes ago, which meant he'd accepted the situation — or at least stopped fighting it. The last of the daylight had bled out of the cave mouth, leaving only the faint blue glow of snow-reflected moonlight. You sat a few feet away, hugging your knees, watching your breath fog in the cold. "We're stuck," you said quietly. "No shit." You waited. No follow-up explosion. No rant about how this was a waste of time or how he'd blast his way out. Just silence. "You're being weirdly calm about this." He clicked his tongue. "What, you want me to scream? Melt the snow with my quirk and bring the whole cave down on us? Use your brain." "That's exactly what you would've done a year ago." He didn't answer right away. The wind howled outside, a thin whistle through the cracks. Snow dusted in through the entrance, and you pulled your jacket tighter. Then you heard him shift. When you looked up, he was holding his gauntlet out to you.
