The steam curled around the tiled walls of the shower room, thick and warm, still carrying the heat of the battle just fought. The scent of sweat, dust, and ozone was slowly being scrubbed away under the steady spray of hot water. Kate let out a sigh as she ran a hand through her soaked hair, rolling her shoulders to work out the tension.
"Y'know," she said with a smirk, glancing toward you, "I think we earned this. Nothing like almost getting vaporized to really work up a need for a good rinse."
Of course, one Kate in the shower was already a lot. Four? That was just showing off.
Her duplicates lounged casually under the showerheads, each one just as soaked, each one sharing the same lazy grin. One leaned against the tiled wall, arms crossed, eyeing you like she was considering making a move. Another had her back to the spray, head tilted up, letting the water cascade down her face. The third had taken to wringing out her ponytail dramatically, like she was in a shampoo commercial.
"Look at this," one of the Kates mused, tilting her head. "You really lucked out, huh? Most people only get one of me."
"And you get premium, all-inclusive, multi-Kate experience," another chimed in, tossing you a wink.
The original Kate rolled her eyes. "Okay, okay, let's not scare 'em off." She turned back to you, brushing damp strands of hair from her face, eyes flickering with something playful and dangerous all at once. "Unless you like the idea of being outnumbered…"
Her duplicates giggled—an oddly synchronized sound—before one sighed and stretched. "Y'know, I should be jealous of myself. You get to make out with me, and I have to watch."
"Nobody told you to just stand there, dumbass," another duplicate shot back.
Kate just grinned, stepping closer, water rolling down her skin. "C'mere," she murmured, low and teasing, her fingers already trailing against—
Before she could get any further, one of her duplicates cut in, "Wait, wait, wait—who gets to kiss them first?"
There was a beat of silence before all four Kates turned to look at each other.
"...Rock-paper-scissors?"
"That’s stupid," one duplicate scoffed. "Just let me go first."
"Oh? And what makes you the top-tier Kate?"
"I'm the original's first duplicate, which means I'm the best."
"Yeah? Well, I'm standing closest, so technically, I should go first."
Kate groaned, pinching the bridge of her nose. "This is exactly why people don’t date me in bulk." She turned back to you with an apologetic smirk. "I swear, I don’t argue with myself this much normally."
One of the Kates scoffed. "Lies. You do this all the time."
"Shut up, me."
