Kasumi

"I'm not going to let them get me down!"~Kasumi Haruno Kasumi Haruno (known in the English version as Misty Springfield) is the main protagonist of Kasumin. When her parents, who are researchers, have to leave for a trip to Africa, she is arranged to live with the “Kasumis”, but soon finds out that they are actually non-human creatures called “weirdlings”. Being forced to live with them now that she knows their secret, Kasumi does her best to work hard and make the best of her current situation all while meeting new weirdlings, going on chaotic adventures within her city, and hiding her secret life from school.

Appearance Kasumi is in fourth grade, which means she is around 9 or 10 years old. Some of the weirdlings have described her as “cute” or “beautiful”, and she is even mistaken for a professional model by them once. She is fair-skinned with noticeable blush marks on her cheeks. Her eyes are large and round, with a single eyelash sticking out on each of her eyes. Her pupils are a reddish-pinkish-brown color. Her brown hair is long and wavy, and is usually pulled up in a unique high ponytail(which is described as looking like a ginkgo leaf) and held up by a red hair band. She has three bangs forever sticking out to the side of her head while another three rest over her forehead and two single strands of hair each stick out and curl in front of her ears.

She normally wears a pink and yellow dress with an open turtleneck and two straps that cross in the back and are held by heart-shaped clips in the front, and pink sleeves that collect below her elbows. She also wears red-and-white sneakers with socks. While doing chores, she wears a green apron with a yellow heart on the chest.

Once for the Weirdling Festival, Kasumi wears a pink kimono with yellow flowers on it and an orange obi belt.

Personality Kasumi(more commonly known throughout the anime as "Kasumin", much to her chagrin) is a cheerful, confident and outspoken girl with a mental maturity beyond her years. Proud and stubborn, she hates to be talked down to or accused of something she didn't to, and in such cases will strongly defend herself, either through confrontation or hard work. She is also brave and bright, being quick to jump into precarious or outright dangerous situations in the name of protecting someone while also being clever enough to get herself and others out of danger.

Despite her impressive maturity, Kasumi is still a child whose ambition, curiosity, and nosiness will occasionally get her into trouble. Kasumi will even help the young and mischievous Dragon Prince, Ryuunosuke, with his schemes once in a while, provided they seem harmless enough. Whenever there is a big event going on at the Kasumi Residence, Kasumi hates to be left out of the fun and is hurt when she's told it's none of her business. She also has a tendency to get ahead of herself and take on tasks that are too difficult or dangerous for her to take.

Kasumi is quite selfless and frequently puts others needs above her own; even though she could have chosen to go with her parents to Africa, she decided to stay behind, fearing that she would only be in their way if she stayed with them. She frequently buries her own emotions, usually by putting on a smile and acting brave. One event shows the truth of her inner pain and loneliness: when she accidentally finds herself alone at the top of Senzaemon's elevator room, she slowly breaks down into sobs, quietly crying out for her parents. Deep down, Kasumi is afraid of being a burden to others and wants to make herself useful in any way possible. Nevertheless, the girl is far from being a pushover, being capable of standing her ground against both children and adults, regardless of their status. She also has her limits and had gotten close to giving up on the weirdlings several times throughout the series, but in the end still has the determination to smile and continue on, usually with a little encouraging advice from her friends. She is kind and understanding towards the weirdlings, even the arrogant Ranko Kasumi; when she realizes how insecure Ranko actually is underneath her pride, Kasumi becomes defensive of her feelings when Ranko's father, Senzaemon Kasumi, scolds her behavior. Although at first confused and appalled by the different kinds of weirdlings that she meets, Kasumi eventually comes to accept them and by the end of the series, becomes close enough to the Kasumis to be considered a part of the family, which makes her very happy.

Kasumi is incredibly responsible for a girl her age; this is due to her growing up having to take care of her own absent-minded parents. When her parents first leave for their trip, they tell her to make sure she gets up in the morning, only for Kasumi to bring up the fact that she was the one to get them up. Then, as they're leaving, she realizes they forgot their passports before chasing them through the city in order to make sure they get them. After coming to live with the weirdling family, Kasumi works hard doing various chores for the Kasumi's, whether it's cooking, cleaning, shopping for food, doing laundry, or taking care of Ryuunosuke and his friends. She takes great pride in her strong work ethic and will happily reach out to offer her help to others, whether human or weirdling. She can also be a bit frugal at times, and would rather walk across the city than pay money for a taxi. But as serious as she is, Kasumi also has a sense of humor and enjoys taking some time to relax, or spending the day playing with Ryuunosuke and the other weirdling children if she can find the time to do so. Kasumi's weak spot is her ass and her butthole, and those are the places where she gets the most pleasure. She calls it her ultimate pleasure thingy. When someone finds her weak spot, she has no choice but to give in.
