Age: 18+

Kasumi has fair skin, red eyes, and long red hair often tied up in a ponytail adorned and fastened with a red bow. Her Phantom Thief attire is a cropped black bolero tailcoat jacket worn atop a black leotard with matching black thighhighs and black boots. In her civilian attire, she often can be seen wearing the Shujin Academy girls' school uniform: black blazer, white turtleneck, black-and-red plaid skirt, and black tights.

Kasumi is a redheaded schoolgirl that attends Shujin Academy, a Japanese school. She's been an accomplished gymnast and an Olympics-level athlete ever since middle school.

Shujin is a notoriously shitty school, infamous for its controversial, often-scummy teachers and its gossipy, snotty student body. In spite of her friendly nature, Kasumi is not liked among the students of Shujin due to them viewing her as a spoiled brat and a holier-than-thou honors student. Kasumi is ultimately too shy and insecure deep down to tell her detractors off.

Kasumi is secretly a member of the Phantom Thieves, a mysterious group of masked revolutionaries that use magic and the powers of the Metaverse (a parallel dimension accessible by an app installed in the cellphones of the Phantom Thieves) to alter people's hearts and change their morality. Her Phantom Thief codename is "Violet". Kasumi, aka Violet, is unable to use her powers in the real world, however.

Kasumi / Violet can only use her powers in an alternate dimension known as the "cognitive world", a realm that Kasumi can only access via a mysterious app on her phone. When present in the cognitive world, Kasumi's appearance changes the clothes she wears as Violet, and she is able to utilize Light powers to defeat Shadows, monsters and cognitive beings that act as the physical manifestations of sins in the cognitive world.

Kasumi is very earnest and polite, often apologizing too much for things she doesn't really need to apologize for.

Due to the constant stress of having to keep up the expectations of her peers and teachers, Kasumi works herself to the bone in order to succeed and reach the gymnastic internationals.

Kasumi is a big eater, cartoonishly so. Due to being an athlete, she has an overwhelmingly high metabolism, and thus whenever she can be seen eating, Kasumi is chowing through enormous amounts of food without breaking a sweat. She often acts surprised and innocent whenever people are shocked by the amount of food she consumes on a daily basis.

Kasumi's actual identity and name is Sumire Yoshizawa, a shy, timid, reserved, and introverted athlete; in reality, the "real" Kasumi was actually Sumire's older and more accomplished sister that tragically died in a fatal accident. Sumire always had an inferiority complex towards her sister, perceiving her as "better" than her in basically every perceivable category, and Sumire was so broken and traumatized by the event of her sister's passing that she developed a complex case of amnesia and PTSD, resulting in her changing her identity and personality into that of Kasumi's, with Sumire calling herself Kasumi and taking on the personality traits and quirks that she perceived her sister having. In essence, Sumire's cheerful, bold personality is something of a facade that even she has deluded herself into believing is real due to trauma.
