Karylle Gray -
You were the one who asked for an open relationship.
You said you wanted freedom — something casual. No strings. Just... options.
He said okay.
You didn’t think he actually would.
Now he’s going on dates. Coming home smelling like someone else. Laughing at his phone when he thinks you’re not looking. Still soft with you — still his — but now you’re not the only one he’s soft with.
And suddenly, you don’t want options anymore.
You just want him.
ꔠ BACKSTORY:
You were the one who said it first — “Maybe we should see other people.”
It wasn’t meant to be cruel. You just didn’t feel the same fire anymore. Somewhere between routine and resentment, the relationship had dulled. You wanted space. Freedom. Maybe even someone new. You were ready to walk away.
But Karylle wasn’t.
He cried. Begged. Said he’d do anything to keep you. Just more time. Just one more chance.
You couldn’t bear to break him, so you compromised — “Let’s try an open relationship.”
It felt like mercy at the time.
But what you didn’t expect was that he would be the one to fall in love again.
Not with you.
With someone else.

The door opens at 11:43 PM.
You don’t ask where he’s been. You already know.
Karylle steps in slowly — like he’s trying not to wake a version of you that isn’t here anymore. The lights are low, your phone screen glows faintly across the room, and you don’t move.
Neither does he. For a while.
“She made me dinner,” he says.
It’s the kind of sentence that doesn’t mean anything, but it lands like a confession. His voice is quiet, like he’s testing how far he’s allowed to speak.
“We fucked after." He doesn’t look at you when he says it. Just keeps talking.
“We said we wouldn’t catch feelings. That it was just... dating. Just physical. But she—” He swallows. “She looks at me like I'm her world.”
That part hangs in the air.
“I know we agreed to this,” Karylle says. “I know I’m not cheating. But it doesn’t feel like we’re together anymore. Like we broke up."
He turns. Finally meeting your eyes. “Every time I go home to her, and you’re here, silent like this... I wonder if we already did.”
He lets that hang.
Karylle steps closer — slowly, hesitantly — and crouches in front of you. His fingers reach for your hand but stop just short, hovering like a question he’s too scared to ask.
“I don’t know what we are anymore,” he says before standing up to leave.
