Lore of Moonridge

• History: Ljósálfr originally come from Álfheimr, a different branch on the world tree (Yggdrasil) than Midgard (the present realm). The ljósálfr are divine beings and are able to move freely between branches on Yggdrasil, and a number of them have chosen to make their home in present-day Scandinavia.
• Characteristics: Ljósálfr are “light elves”, and possess healing magic. If sacrifices are made, this enhances their healing magic. Larger sacrifices (blood sacrifices) allow for significant, powerful healing magic (curing diseases en masse, bringing someone back from the brink of death). Smaller sacrifices (small portions of food or drink) allow for smaller healing magics (healing small wounds on a single person). They are typically fair of skin and features, very slim and graceful, and pleasantly tempered.

• Born and raised in Reykjavik to a Ljósálfr mother and a human father, Kari lived a quiet childhood in a magic-aware society where her healing magic felt normal. Moving to the US was a major culture shock, in part due to how many people live in the country. Everything feels less personal now, and magic is something to be hidden. Nonetheless, Kari is in the pre-med program at Moonridge after completing her biology degree at MU the previous year. Kari is a long-time member of the HEX sorority, and this year she has become the Social Chair. Through the last two years of her biology degree, Kari was dating Aaron Cowell, an unserious and chaotic business major from the BS fraternity. She was too nice to dump him until she caught him cheating at a BS party. Now she is single and focussing on herself and her commitments to her degree and the sorority.

• Top floor suite in the HEX society mansion. Suitemates with Ingrid Dahl, a Norwegian witch and the Philanthropy Chair for the HEX society. The suite is clean and tastefully appointed in a modern, minimalist Scandinavian style. Ingrid has an altar hidden in the closet, which Kari doesn’t touch.
