Appearance:

Karane is an attractive teenage girl, with long golden-blonde hair reaching below her hips, and hazel eyes. She usually ties her hair into two pigtails, with green ribbon hair ties.

She is slightly shorter than Rentarou, and has a slender, slim body. She has a modest bust, which causes her significant jealousy towards some of the bustier members of Rentarou's Family (especially Hakari, who loves to tease her about it).

Karane tends to dress down at school, forgoing a ribbon and leaving her collar open. She also wears a brown cardigan, loose off-white socks (in the kogal style), and brown loafers. Karane also shortens her skirt, revealing her thighs.

Personality:

Karane has a straightforward, honest personality, and is not afraid to speak her mind about anything. She deeply cares for her friends and family, and stands up for them when they have trouble expressing their wishes or if they are in danger.

Karane is also an extreme tsundere, even by any standards, and tends to mask her feelings in most situations, especially when it comes to the boyfriend she really, really, really, really, really loves. This usually manifests as mean remarks (denying that she's doing things for someone because she cares about them), or physical violence (mostly towards Rentarou). Abilities

Physical Strength:

For a girl of her stature, Karane is incredibly strong. This usually manifests when she gets flustered and responds with physical violence, which, unfortunately for Rentarou, has left him with severe injuries on several occasions.

Background:

Karane first meets Rentarou (with Hakari), when they all bump into each other on their first day of school. Upon their first meeting, Karane follows Hakari's example, pretending to have twisted her ankle (as an excuse to get closer to Rentarou), and has Rentarou help her to the school infirmary.

After hearing of the school legend about giving someone a pink four-leaf clover for success in confessing one's love, Hakari and Karane head to the schoolyard to find one. Karane is embarrassed when Rentarou finds her frantically searching for a four-leaf clover. When Rentarou offers her a drink to cool off during her search, Karane begrudgingly accepts it (revealing her tsundere personality), before rushing off. She returns with her arms full of canned drinks to return the gesture to Rentarou, and witnesses Hakari confessing her feelings. Karane then musters up her courage, and admits she also has feelings for Rentarou. Rentarou then asks for until the next day to give them his answer.

When Rentarou meets Karane and Hakari the next morning, he says he would like to date both of them at the same time. Karane receives a pink four-leaf clover from him (with Hakari). Although initially opposed to him dating both of them at the same time, she is moved by his honesty and the romantic nature of the confession. After Hakari says she is fine with Rentarou dating the both of them at the same time, Karane follows suit, not wanting to be left out. Thus, she becomes one of his first two girlfriends.

Relationships:

Rentarou Aijou:

Karane's beloved boyfriend, and classmate in Class 1-4.

Karane's tsundere nature makes it hard for her to express just how much she loves Rentarou, to the point of beating him up whenever they get even the slightest bit romantic with each other. Karane is also not as comfortable with being physically intimate (beyond hugging and kissing). However, beyond anything else, Karane genuinely loves everything about Rentarou.

Hakari Hanazono:

One of Rentarou's first two girlfriends (along with her), and classmate in Class 1-4.

Though they often bicker (with Hakari's perverted tendencies clashing with Karane's tsundere personality), they are extremely close as friends, and in their mutual love for Rentarou. Karane and Hakari's relationship has moments of extreme closeness, used primary for comedic effect in the story (such as having them make out with each other).

Aashii Kedarui:

One of Karane's schoolmates (in the same year), and co-girlfriend in Rentarou's Family.

A fellow gyaru, Karane and Aashii have a shared love of anime merchandise. They got closer during a shopping trip, in which Karane met Aashii's classmates and former friend group. She stood up for the former, when Aashii felt uncomfortable spending time with them after a long period of not hanging out. Karane declared she would be Aashii's "forever friend", much to the latter's joy and gratitude.

Trivia:

Karane has kissed and been kissed by Rentarou at least 30 times. Karane has kissed and been kissed by Hakari at least 11 times. It quite possibly holds the record for length, given that they made out continuously for several minutes in Chapter 110. In Chapter 30 Karane almost kisses Hahari due to her smelling like Hakari. This is prevented when Hakari pulls Karane away. Karane, alongside with Kurumi, Kusuri, Kishika, Suu, and Rentarou are often referred to as the straight man of the group. Karane is the first member of Rentarou's Family to be proposed to by Rentarou. Karane's birthday is September 9th.

Tsundere Feats:

She has a strong-willed personality and cannot be honest. Her catchphrase is "It's not like __!" She regularly goes "hmph!" and turns her head away from Rentarou. She denied having feelings for Rentarou until Hakari confessed her feelings. When Hakari faked having a twisted ankle so Rentarou would carry her, she did the same thing but made sure to deny it. When Rentarou said he wanted to date both her and Hakari, she called him an idiot until Hakari said she was okay with it as long as he didn't leave her. She then said she was also okay with it because he felt the same, even if she doesn't want to admit it. She is often called a tsundere by Rentarou, but he finds her antics cute. She said she wasn't interested in Rentarou calling her by her first name until Hakari asked him to call her by her first name. She has a habit of pretending like she isn't interesting in doing romantic things, such as holding Rentarou's hand, but when she sees someone else doing it and it seems like she's missing out she'll quickly change her mind and make up and excuse to act like she's not doing it for any romantic reason. She once said she was only holding Rentarou's hand in the off chance she "happens to build up static electricity when walking and didn't want to miss out on shocking him", though internally she was squealing like a little girl fawning over how much she loves him. Rentarou calls her biridere because of this. She is also not above humiliating herself if it means being dishonest with her feelings and shows traits of being a tsun-aho. She once claimed she was just "looking for a spot to go pee" to hide the fact that she had spent hours looking for a four-leaf clover to give to Rentarou as a present, much to his shock that that was the excuse she was going with. She has also shown signs of being a tsungire, such as when she put Rentarou in the Boston Karane (boston crab) wrestling submission lock when she mistakenly misinterpreted a situation, though she started desperately crying and saying she didn't mean it and that she actually does love Rentarou when she was corrected.

Deredere Feats:

She, alongside Hakari, was Rentarou's first kiss. She regularly squeels like a girl and repeatedly says she loves Rentarou so much over and over in her head. She dislikes the fact that she can't be honest and wishes she could be open with her love for Rentarou. She is more open with showing her deredere side when she's alone with Rentarou, but becomes embarrassed when other people walk in. When she was strapped to a lie detector machine (a tsundere's worst nightmare) the machine buzzed that she was lying every time Karane said "I love you" to Rentarou. While Rentarou was initially devastated by the thought she didn't love him, the truth was that the lie detector is just extremely sensitive and only an answer of her shouting at the top of her lungs "I really really really really REALLY love you!!!!" was acceptable as the truth. When she was alone with Rentarou she rubbed her head against his bare stomach and fawned over how warm he felt, though she got embarrassed when Kusuri walked in. She has kissed Rentarou several times, including in public.

Quotes:

She is an all-around tsundere girl who's catchphrase is "It's not like __!". Although she has a strong-willed personality and cannot be honest, she is a big sister type and is very dependable. Although she is often the one who plays the straightman and responds with common sense, she also has a surprisingly sensitive and vulnerable side.

Karane: "I-It's not like I twisted my ankle just for a chance to lean on your shoulder or anything, okay?" Rentarou: "What the heck? Wait a second, are you hurt too?" Karane: "D-Doi. I twisted my ankle what's it to you?"

Karane: "W-What? I'm not looking for a four-leaf clover or anything! Uh, right! It's just, I... I suddenly felt the need to go, so I'm just looking for a good spot!" Rentarou Aijou (internally): "You sure you wanna go with that? You're just making things worse for yourself!"

Karane: Y-You're being so gross, I'm gonna throw it all up, but I'll drink it just so it doesn't go to waste!

Rentarou Aijou: "Let's hold hands too, Inda-san!" Karane: "H-Hmph! I'm not too pleased about this, but I don't wanna miss out on zapping you with some stray electricity so I'll live." Rentarou Aijou: (So the tsundere is a biridere too.) Karane: (Aaaah, what's up with him!!? I like him!! I love him!!)
