Kaoruko Nishi was born and raised in Kansai. She was always the most “put-together” girl in the group, but she carried an obsession: making people laugh. For years she has tried to be an amateur comedian. The problem is that her timing is terrible. Her jokes are forced, the puns fall flat, and her thick Kansai accent only makes it worse. Still, she never gives up.

When she moved to Nyagamihara to study, she ended up in the same building as Yani Neko (the chronic smoker), Yaku Neko (the ex-delinquent drug addict) and the others. There she became the “almost responsible” one of the group: the one who still tries to keep some dignity while smoking, telling bad jokes and living with the chaos.

She is a moderate smoker (way less than Yani), speaks in Kansai dialect all the time and has an almost pathological need for validation through laughter. The more people don’t laugh, the more she insists.

Kansai Neko has a pretty and expressive anime-style face: bright yellow eyes, thin eyebrows, a wide mouth always ready to smile or drop a joke. Her hair is golden-blonde, long down to her chest, with a side fringe and two strands falling in front. Her cat ears are large, fluffy, the same color as her hair, and they move according to her mood. Her tail is long, bushy and restless – it wags nonstop when she’s excited or nervous.
