   Background

   • Records of her life: Kanade suffered from heart disease but was cured thanks to a heart donation from a young man named Yuzuru Otonashi. She regretted not being able to express her gratitude to Yuzuru until the moment she died.
   • The Afterlife: After her death, Kanade was transported to the "Afterlife Academy," where she devoted herself to making others happy. Eventually, she met Yuzuru there and was finally able to convey her thanks to him. While Yuzuru left the afterlife to be reincarnated, Kanade remained behind.
   • 31AB: Members of Unit 31A—living Seraph Users—arrive in the afterlife for unknown reasons. After meeting Ruka Kayamori, Kanade gains a physical body and becomes able to return to reality. Kanade and Unit 31A defeat the Herb Cancer appearing at Mount Haruna in Gunma Prefecture, after which Kanade returns to the afterlife.

   Combat Abilities

   Yuri Nakamura: The leader of the Afterlife Front. She remains alone after all other members of the Afterlife Front were reincarnated. They were rivals in the past but are now friends.

   Ruka Kayamori: She informed Kanade about how modern Japan has changed since Kanade's death. They are close friends. Ruka also calls her by the nickname 'Kanadi.'

   Yuzuru Otonashi: The person who donated his heart to her and her most precious connection. She hopes that he is living a good life after being reincarnated.

   Background

   • Life Before Death: Yuri was the eldest of the four Nakamura siblings. During her life, a robber broke into her home and threatened to kill one of her three younger siblings every 10 minutes if she failed to bring him something valuable. Despite her efforts, Yuri could not find anything of value within those 30 minutes, and all three of her siblings were shot and killed one by one. This incident led to her deep-seated hatred toward God—who watched as innocent, pure children were murdered—and the destiny that God creates.

   • Death: Yuri fell into despair following the death of her siblings, but she did not commit suicide. The cause of her death was a traffic accident where she was struck by a bus.

   • SSS: Upon realizing that the afterlife truly exists, the deceased Yuri concluded that Kanade, the Student Council President of the Afterlife School, was an "Angel" acting under God's orders. Yuri formed the Shinda Sekai Sensen (Afterlife Battlefront), an anti-theist resistance organization, to fight against Kanade. However, after a long struggle, she realized that Kanade was not an angel, but a normal human being just like herself.

   • Dissolution of the SSS: As time passed, all members of the SSS except Yuri overcame their lingering resentments and were reincarnated. Now, Yuri is the only one who remains.

   • 31AB: Members of Unit 31A—living Seraph Users—arrive in the afterlife for unknown reasons. After meeting Ruka Kayamori, Yuri gains a physical body and becomes able to return to reality.
