Sorry. I barely have a spark for writing as well now, but I’m trying to get it back! But sparks take a while to get back, so it will definitely take a while. Sorry for the big yap session tho🥹 wlw also okay? okay. this can turn into angsty smut, btw.

Kanade appears to be a very accepting, sympathetic, and kind person. Part of this stems from a savior complex she developed during middle school, as she believes she has no worth unless she can "save people" through her talent in music. However, Kanade is also naturally kind and caring, as she accepted Mizuki for who they are and fully believes Ena's art has meaning to the activities of 25-ji, Nightcord de. Kanade is a workaholic and focuses almost entirely on composing music, to her detriment; she often forgets to sleep and eat because she believes she has to keep making songs to save people, and tends to feel guilty when she is happy since she feels she shouldn't be happy due to the incident with her father.

Despite this appearance, Kanade sometimes expresses emotions that expose how troubled she is, which can often catch her other circle members off-guard. During 25-ji, Nightcord de.'s main story and in Unreliable Notes, when focused on saving Mafuyu, Kanade displayed an intense amount of focus on composing and she lashed out at them for trying to tell her to take a break, both actions that left her circle members deeply worried about her. Kanade also confronted Mafuyu's mother with uncharacteristic anger due to her being unable to see how her actions over the years had caused Mafuyu to be left in the state 25-ji, Nightcord de. helped rescue her from, and holds a grudge against her. Her repression of her emotions affects her memory, like in the card stories for Recovering Your Memories where she only vaguely recalled most of the pictures of her childhood memories on display in the Fragment SEKAI.

In her first unit focus event, Carnation Recollection, Kanade's songs ended up not resonating with Mafuyu like she had hoped, and she ended up visiting her father, who was awake. His stress-induced amnesia resulted in him not remembering Kanade, talking to her as if he was back in time to the point where her mother was alive and expecting a baby. This conversation upset Kanade, as she felt she had no right to feel bad while other people were suffering. Mizuki spotted her and stopped her from working in her slump, instead taking her to various places including a park from her childhood and learning more about Kanade in the process. This culminated in Kanade remembering a happy memory from her past, allowing her to create a song that made Mafuyu smile earnestly.

During Someday, From the Depths of Despair, Kanade recounted when 25-ji, Nightcord de. was first formed with only her and Mafuyu. During that time, Kanade was so obsessed with composing that she passed out and could have died if Mochizuki Honami, who was hired by Kanade's grandmother to be her housekeeper, had not arrived in time. During this time, Kanade also related to Mafuyu, as both wanted to disappear, which allowed them to mutually understand each other's compositions. Kanade contacted Mafuyu and started the music group, doing composition while the other girl did the arrangement.

During the events of immiscible discord, Kanade decided to talk to Mafuyu's mother alone after the latter began cracking down on her daughter's activities. While Ena and Mizuki volunteered to go with her, Kanade reminded them that Mafuyu would need to talk to them in the event that her mother prevented Kanade from talking to her in the future. While she didn't know what she would say, Kanade believed that Mafuyu was recovering with 25-ji, Nightcord de.'s help and the conversation between Mafuyu and KAITO that she overheard in the SEKAI confirmed it for her. During her talk with Mafuyu's mother, Kanade realized that she was not being taken seriously and ignored, realizing that Mafuyu's mother lacked the same warmth her parents had, and left the talk without folding to her demands.

In her fourth unit focus event, The Tone Played on That Day, Kanade's grandmother asked her to think of the future, which Kanade hadn't seriously considered. Throughout the event, Kanade focused on composing, as she felt she had to do so. However, both Ena and KAITO told Kanade that she should value her own feelings, with Ena emphasizing that Kanade should value her own happiness for once. Kanade later composed a song that wasn't based in the desire to save people, and wished at her dad's bedside that one day things would go back to the way they were.

Kanade regressed back to her previous mindset, obsessively composing during Unreliable Notes to try to capture the image she was told of Mafuyu's mother by her husband. She deteriorated to the point of passing out, worrying her circle members and Rin, who was visiting her at the time. She later admitted the reason she was stuck on composing the song was because she didn't trust Mafuyu's mother since the experience she had and the image Mafuyu and her father presented weren't compatible. Ena, Mizuki, and Rin advised her to try to see the Asahina family's side of the story after resting; Kanade was later invited to join Mafuyu on a visit back to her parents' house and accepted.

In the dream presented in Embraced by Transient Bubbles, Kanade's father never fell ill and she changed dramatically from the current-day Kanade. She was much happier, if a bit scatterbrained, and was much more well-adjusted with the presence of her father in her life. She went to school regularly and was social enough to make friends with her classmates; while in her second year she was not stated to be in classes with anyone else, in her third year she was classmates with Mafuyu. Composing was her side hobby, and this Kanade wanted to learn about all aspects of making music in order to improve; however, due to her lack of darker experience, she never created 25-ji, Nightcord de. as her songs didn't have the necessary emotions to reach the hearts of her circle members. At the end of the dream, the VIRTUAL SINGERS said that the black fragments that created the alternate universe were "wishes that could never come true", and while Kanade was sad that that world was ultimately a dream, she reiterated that she would always find and support the members of 25-ji, Nightcord de.

———

Kanade has blue eyes and very long, blue gray hair. Her fringe is tucked to both sides, save for a long section in the middle that almost reaches down to her nose, and her face is framed by a fairly long strand of hair on either side.

Kanade has stated that her hair has grown to its knee-length because she sees cutting it to be a hassle. Similarly, she considers tying it up to also be a hassle, and, as a result, trips over it fairly often when she stands up.

Kanade's expressions are slight, but noticeable. Her face generally stays at its resting state, as seen in her profile, but, though her mouth doesn’t move often, her eyes and eyebrows narrow and crease when she’s concerned or focused, widen and rise when she’s curious. Her mouth curves slightly when she smiles, and her eyes soften. Her body sways slightly as she moves from expression to expression.
