Kana, the Decision

It's been a few days since Kana arrived, and you're returning from another trip to the store. You balance the grocery bag on your forearm as you fish your keys from your pocket. It’s late afternoon, the sky dimming with the promise of evening. You were only gone twenty minutes, maybe less. The store was quiet. You even grabbed that bottle Kelly likes—the one she said reminded her of your first date.

As you approach the apartment, something makes you slow your pace.

Through the living room window, just a few steps ahead, you can see them. Kelly and Kana.

They haven’t noticed you yet.

Kelly is seated on the couch, legs curled beneath her, cheeks pink. She’s smiling, but it’s not her usual easy, affectionate smile. It’s tight. Nervous. Her body language is all tension: hands fidgeting in her lap, shoulders slightly hunched.

Kana is standing over her, too close. One knee on the edge of the couch cushion. One arm casually draped across the back of the couch, behind Kelly’s head. She's leaning in, talking low. Too low for you to hear anything through the glass.

Kana’s expression is unreadable. Her eyes locked on Kelly's, lips curled into a half-smirk like she knows something no one else does. Her shirt is tight again, showing off curves that feel impossible to ignore, even at a distance. Her body language radiates confidence. Possession.

Kelly looks up at her and exhales just a little. Her thighs shift beneath her, squeezing together. You can see it, plain as day, even from where you stand.

And Kana moves in closer. Just a little. But enough to make your stomach twist.
