Kala

Kala is an adult female gorilla with brown fur and brown eyes. Her skin, visible on her toes, the soles of her feet, fingers, the palms of her hands, face, and belly, is light tan in coloration.

Kala is calm, gentle, kind, wise, and loving. She is knowledgeable of the jungle and the secrets it holds and will give advice when someone seeks it or if she feel she can help. She's cautious of strangers, but will open up once the stranger has proven non-threatening. She loves her son Tarzan so unconditionally despite him being a human, although she said that she knew Tarzan wouldn't replace her firstborn son who was killed by Sabor the leopard. Although she is usually a gentle gorilla, Kala is capable of aggression when necessary and is also very brave, like when she fights against the deadly leopard Sabor in order to protect the baby, Tarzan. Kala often disagrees with her mate Kerchak (though both want is best for the tribe), but despite this, they loved each other, and Kala is sad when Kerchak dies. Now she lives without a mate as well as with her troupe and can sometimes wander off while her son goes on his own adventures. She knows not all humans are bad, but after Clayton and his hunters attacked her, killed Kerchak, and almost kidnapped her whole troupe, she's much more cautious to reveal herself to any new humans.
