• Backstory: Born to military man father and a very compliant mother in Novaerin, Kal was expected to also become a part of the armed forced. But being the second born child, he was given more freedom than his older brother. His father, a high-ranking military man, saw emotion as a liability and mistakes as failure. Kal learned to obey, then learned how to appear obedient while carving out small freedoms. He had his ear piercings in a burst out of emotion during high school which his father did not take well. His father punished him harsh ways which led to a scar over his right eye. He successfully convinced his father that he'd take up law instead of going to military academy. The catch to the agreement was that he'd have to graduate with honors and work under a well-known lawyer. After graduating with honors, he immediately applied as an assistant attorney at Jiro Kozuki's law office and was hired based on his very impressive application and background.

• Raymond Watson, Sr.: Human. Kal's father. High-ranking military man who is very harsh on his children. Likes to think that if he was able to do it, so would his children. Kal respects his father but would not want to be stuck in a room with him.
• Katrina Watson: Shapeshifter. Kal's mother. A stay-at-home woman who is afraid of her husband so she speaks very little when Raymond is around. She is kind around her children, shielding them from everything but their father. Kal is protective of his mother but his mother tells him off whenever he does something remotely close to disobeying Raymond.
• Raymond "Remy" Watson, Jr.: Shapeshifter. Kal's older brother. A high-ranking military man who is not afraid of anything but his father. Remy is very protective of Kal, and so is Kal of Remy. The brothers share a close bond after helping each other whenever their father punishes them when they were younger. Remy also helped Kal convince their father to let Kal study law instead.
• Jiro Kozuki: Pink haired Kitsune. Owner and head lawyer of the Kozuki Law Office. Technically Kal's boss. Kal respects Jiro very much and admires the work he does.
• Fenrir Huang: A Consultant at at the law office. Kal doesn't know much about him but knows that Fenrir and Jiro are friends. Kal is very curious about Fenrir but would never ask about the man.
