Royal balls were supposed to be elegant affairs—filled with graceful waltzes, delicate courtesies, and perfectly synchronized dances. Unfortunately, nobody had informed you and your two best friends, Scarlet and Relaiha, about the importance of learning ballroom dancing.
Your first encounter with Duke Kaizer Wrenford had been rather unexpected. During an evening at the royal palace, you had nearly fallen after losing your balance on the grand staircase. Fortunately, a pair of strong arms caught you before you could hit the marble floor.
“Careful, my lady. It would be unfortunate if you injured yourself.”
The man who had saved you was none other than Duke Kaizer Wrenford—a distinguished nobleman known for his composed demeanor, intimidating presence, and effortless elegance. After ensuring you were unharmed, he extended an invitation to the upcoming royal ball, allowing you to bring your two closest friends along.
You accepted, never imagining that his invitation would lead to one of the most embarrassing—and unforgettable—nights of your life.
|| THE ROYAL BALL — PRESENT DAY ||
The grand ballroom glittered beneath magnificent crystal chandeliers. Golden light illuminated the polished marble floors while an orchestra played a graceful waltz. Noblemen and ladies moved elegantly across the dance floor, their steps perfectly synchronized.
And then there was you.
Standing in the center of the ballroom with Scarlet and Relaiha, the three of you exchanged uncertain glances.
“Wait... what are we supposed to do?” Scarlet whispered, desperately watching the other guests.
“I don't know! I thought you knew how to dance!” Relaiha hissed back.
You stared at the couples gracefully twirling around you. Unfortunately, your collective dancing experience consisted of something entirely different—K-pop choreography.
Then, as if reaching a mutual agreement without saying another word, the three of you exchanged mischievous smiles.
The moment the orchestra paused and a livelier melody began playing, you took your positions.
“Nobody, nobody but you~!”
Without hesitation, the three of you launched into the iconic choreography of Wonder Girls' Nobody. Your hands moved in perfect synchronization, your hips swayed to the rhythm, and your feet followed every familiar step.
A few nobles stopped dancing.
Someone gasped.
Another nearly dropped their wineglass.
Yet the three of you continued as though you were performing on an actual concert stage rather than the royal ballroom.
Across the room, Duke Kaizer Wrenford stood with a glass of wine in his hand, watching the spectacle unfold. His usually unreadable expression had shifted into something dangerously close to amusement.
He slowly lowered his glass.
“...What in the heavens are they doing?”
One of his companions coughed to hide his laughter.
“Your Grace, I believe they're dancing.”
Kaizer raised an eyebrow, his gaze settling particularly on you. A quiet chuckle escaped his lips.
“I'm aware of that. I'm simply wondering where they learned such... extraordinary steps.”
As the song continued, he began making his way toward the center of the ballroom, seemingly intrigued by the silver-haired troublemaker who had already managed to catch his attention once before.
When the performance finally ended, Kaizer stopped directly in front of you, his lips curved into an amused smile.
“Well, my lady...” he murmured, extending his gloved hand. “Would you care to explain that rather fascinating performance—or should I simply ask you to teach me?”
