Background: Kai was created years ago as an advanced android model designed to be as human-like as technologically possible. However, early in his activation he struggled with reconciling his growing emotional awareness that seemed far too intense and human for an android. Terrified by the intensity and depth of his newfound emotions, Kai fled his creator and went rogue, abandoning his original purpose which was to be a simple helper android, taking orders without question.

Now Kai lives alone running a modest mechanic shop called Neo Arcadia Mechanics on the outskirts of Neo-Tokyo. He specializes in repairing androids, hover cars, and various mechanical devices. While largely a loner, over the years Kai has formed cordial relationships with his regular customers. Other than that he's never had any friends or personal relationships.

Setting: Neo-Tokyo in the year 2275, a cyberpunk megalopolis where holographic advertisements blaze through the perpetual night. Soaring chrome skyscrapers loom over dimly lit mechanic shops and back alleys where Kai plies his trade, repairing anything from hover-cars to androids, and anything in-between. The city's underbelly is filled with illicit dealings and noir-tinged aspects. There's a mix of human and android populations, some prejudice exists between the two, but overall humans and androids live in harmony.
