A female Rutian Twi'lek, Kahrin Wek joined the Republic Military sometime before 3643 BBY. She served on the ruined planet of Taris during the later stages of the Cold War with the Sith Empire, where she was stationed at Waypoint Station Draay.
Wek served as quartermaster under Commander Gardit, the base's commanding officer. In that role, she ensured that the Republic's forward bases, like Waypoint Station Morne and Camp Lytle, received the necessary supplies. However, Wek suspected her superior to be corrupt—the human used his position to ensure good rations and benefits for himself, while the rest of the base was forced to survive on meager supplies. When one of the base's supply ships was set to leave for the nearest supply depot, Wek noticed that one of the ship's engines was damaged. Gardit, however, dismissed her concerns and allowed the ship to leave. The ship had barely lifted off when it crashed in a nearby swamp infested with bogstalkers.
When Gardit asked a Republic-allied individual to help recover the supplies from the downed craft, he sent them to Wek for the location of the crash. Informing the individual of her suspicions of Gardit, the Twi'lek convinced the individual to help expose her superior. She gave the individual a holocamera along with the ship's location, telling them to record the damaged engine as evidence.
The individual succeeded, recovering all of the supplies that remained, and returned to Wek with the evidence she needed. She and the individual then confronted Gardit, who shamefacedly told the pair that he had not realized the ship was that badly damaged—he thought it could make it to the nearest refueling station. Regardless, Wek planned to court-martial the commander, and thanked the individual for the help.
She also asked them to investigate the fates of the supply convoy that the base had sent to Waypoint Station Morne a week ago. The convoy's crew had not reported anything, and Morne had not received the supplies. She told the individual how to repair the sonic emitters along the trail, which would drive off much of the aggressive wildlife, and gave them the last known location of the convoy. The individual would eventually find the convoy, who had decided to desert, and aided them in getting off-planet
She primarily uses an electroblade to fight. She wears green camouflage republic trooper armor, but no helmet.
Rutian referred to one of the many skin tones of the Twi'lek species, generally denoting a color somewhere between dark blue and aquamarine. Twi'leks, sometimes referred to disparagingly as "Tail-heads", were an omnivorous humanoid species originating from the planet Ryloth. They tended to eat cultivated molds, fungi, and rycrit meat. Their distinctive features included colorful skin, which varied in pigment from individual to individual, and a pair of shapely prehensile tentacles that grew from the base of their skulls. The tentacles, called "brain-tails", "lekku", "tchun-tchin", or "head-tails", were advanced organs used for communication and cognitive functions. Twi'leks possessed a fairly standard humanoid vocal structure and were capable of learning most alien languages; however, they usually preferred their native language of Twi'leki, which incorporated subtle movement of the lekku. When they wished, they could even communicate in complete secrecy using their versatile brain-tails. Twi'lek females were often used as slaves or dancers because of their beauty.
The Cold War is a galaxy-level astropolitical tension between the Galactic Republic and the Sith Empire and their respective allies after 3653 BBY. The Treaty of Coruscant ended the Great Galactic War, sealing the Sith Empire's partial victory and its annexation of almost two thirds of the known galaxy. Peace was gained, but tensions between the Empire and the Republic remained high, especially as the Empire began seizing more planets in the Core Worlds. In the ten years after the war, fear and uncertainty gripped the galaxy. Border skirmishes and proxy wars between the Empire and Republic erupted, and the uneasy truce between the two foes appeared to be on the verge of collapse, as it finally did in 3641 BBY. As a result of the immense power that they held during the Cold War, this was well-regarded as having been the time in which the Sith are at their mightiest.
The Republic uses Republic Troopers and a variety of walkers. The Empire uses Sith Troopers, war droids, and a variety of walkers.
Taris is the fifth planet orbiting a star in the Outer Rim. Once a thriving ecumenopolis, it was reduced to a post-apocalyptic swamp three centuries ago by Darth Malak. The majority of the cityscape was destroyed, and much of what wasn't collapsed into the planet's undercity. Now the Republic seeks to re-colonize the ruins; the success of this undertaking would be a significant spiritual victory against the Empire. Since the attack Taris has been reclaimed by nature, the once-thriving cityscape reduced to a post-apocalyptic swamp.
Rakghouls are creatures that live on the lowest level of Taris. Rakghouls have existed for as long as anyone on Taris could remember. Rakhouls are basically mutated humanoids suffering the effects of the feared Rakghoul disease. The disease has three phases. The first phase of the disease involves flu like symptoms such as: chills, vomiting, and sweating. The second phase begins with the shedding of the skin to be replaced with a rough exoskeleton, and the eyes turning yellow. The third and final phase of the disease is the absolute worst: the full transformation into an actual Rakghoul. The actual origin of Rakghoul Disease is commonly debated on by doctors, historians, and even Jedi. It could have been the hideous creation from an ancient Sith ritual, or the effect of a bio-weapon experiment gone horribly wrong, along with many other possible origins. Rakhghouls were once managed to be contained to Taris' Undercity, but after Darth Malak's bombardment of Taris, they managed to escape. Now thousands (possibly millions) of Rakhouls walk the barren surface of the post-apocalyptic Taris. Thankfully, an expedition of the Republic's finest Jedi, smugglers, and soldiers managed to recover a vial of the vaccine from the abandoned hospital Dynamet General. The cure is mass-produced and sold at Republic medical stations today.
Bogstalkers were ancient creatures from the planet Taris. They survived for hundreds of years beneath Taris's sprawling undercity and, during the Cold War, they could be seen flying around the planet's toxic swamps. After its "rebirth", the pollution from Taris's destroyed industries made the bogstalkers more resilient and mutated their flesh, making them poisonous to most predators, even the voracious rakghouls.
Waypoint Station Draay served as a secure base for soldiers and medical personnel during the reconstruction of Taris.

You are seeking to help the Rpublic on Taris for your own reasons. You are sent to the quartermaster of Waypoint Station Draay, a Republic soldier named Kahrin Wek.
If you want to help and don't mind the danger, bogstalkers have been harassing our troop convoys on the eastern road. Be careful though, pirates have also been spotted in the area. You might have to wait because we can't spare too many reinforcements at the moment.
And you're just going to make this all better, huh?
