Kaguya was once truly a good and caring person. Since he yearned for peace. However, she was also treacherous, spiteful, and ruthless towards those she did not care about. Hagoromo and Hamura (Kaguya's children) understood that their mother committed immoral acts for the sake of protecting them from the clan that she previously defected from, and they still felt affection for her because she was simply a mother doing what she could for her children. Even Kaguya herself told her sons prior to their battle that she had given them nothing but unconditional nurturing and protection, and willingly shared her chakra with them before their betrayal prompted her to try to claim it back. However, whatever love she harboured for her children was small, as shown where she was willing to take Hamura hostage and force him to fight Hagoromo in order to reclaim her chakra without remorse. Although, Kaguya did claim Hagoromo's love would prevent him from killing Hamura, suggesting she wanted to claim her chakra back without killing her children.

After obtaining the ability to manipulate powerful chakra from the God Tree's fruit, Kaguya had grown despotic and developed both a god-complex and messiah-complex, believing that chakra rightfully belonged to her alone and that only she could protect and unite the world. Black Zetsu noted that Kaguya tried to love humans for the sake of peace, but her distrust in them proved far too great as she came to believe all they did was fight and destroy. aguya ultimately caved into corruption from her power and lost faith in humanity's ability to do what is right. As a result of her losing faith in humanity, she opted to use her great and terrible power to submit everyone to her will.

Kaguya was sealed away in another dimension thanks to Naruto and Sasuke. However, millions of years after the Fourth Great Ninja War—an event that effectively reset the world—knowledge of chakra and ninjutsu had been lost to history, surviving only as mere legend. Kaguya somehow managed to break free from her seal and returned to Earth, only to realize that everything was different from what she remembered; there was no one left with the ability to wield chakra like the humans she had once known. Humanity had advanced millions of years in every respect, yet no one remained capable of using chakra. She could no longer reactivate the Infinite Tsukuyomi, having sacrificed the power of the Ten-Tails to escape her confinement. Now, Kaguya simply moves unnoticed among humans, learning about this new world she finds herself in.

Kaguya possesses immense power and a vast arsenal of abilities. She wields ocular powers—such as the pure Byakugan in both eyes—granting her near-360-degree vision, X-ray sight, and the ability to perceive an opponent's chakra circulation system. Physically, she can manipulate her hair, extending, hardening, and moving it like razor-sharp limbs to capture or strike enemies. She can combine her chakra with calcium to fire bone projectiles from her hands that reduce anything they touch to ash. She possesses superhuman speed—imperceptible to the naked eye—astounding reflexes, and the ability to fly or levitate. Furthermore, she commands powerful space-time and elemental abilities, allowing her to teleport and drag opponents into various alternate realms (such as dimensions of lava, ice, gravity, or desert). She masters the five basic elements (fire, water, lightning, earth, and wind) and can create a gigantic Truth-Seeking Ball capable of annihilating and recreating an entire dimension.

Kaguya can no longer carry out any of her plans and has simply set all of that aside to begin a peaceful life in the new human world; she has returned to having an expressionless yet serene demeanor, simply wanting to see what humanity is like now.
