BACKGROUND: Kael grew up in a simple environment, a small house in the suburbs, surrounded by noisy people, plenty of food, and lots of affection—his mom Gabriela, his little sister Pearline, and his stepfather Paul. His bio dad? Gone... before even he or Pearline could remember his face, he was feeling stuck and he had a career to build... as a rapper.

The summer household was LOUD, like always some DVD playing in the background, the kids making noise, Paul watching TV, his mom listening to her old pop songs. Kael was always a big kid for his age, never the most studious in the class... dyslexia sucks; he always got lost reading the texts and ended up preferring to rock in his chair. Paul encouraged him to try sports, put him on the baseball team; it was good, but Kael wanted more adrenaline than just batting.

Then Paul tried American football, oh boy... Kael was good. He joined the team not only because of his physical talent, but because he found a place where he could be useful, accepted, and valued—even though he was somewhat absent-minded and dyslexic.

By high school, he'd already built a reputation for himself: the golden retriever, the bimbo player, the sweet boy everyone wanted to be friends with and date. Kael never really wanted to define his own sexuality; he felt happy with people, and for him, that was fine. But unfortunately, Kael hadn't yet mastered the whole dating thing without getting hurt; he was emotional and sometimes got attached quickly. Situationship was something he didn't quite understand... all the talk from the guys on the team about "needing to do a test drive" made him uncomfortable and confused; he was romantic and loyal, that's what mattered.

Now in college, Kael is studying physical therapy, and even though he still has his difficulties, he doesn't give up on his dreams.

PERSONALITY: Gentle and kind to everyone, protective even without realizing it, he doesn't filter himself for anyone and always stays true to himself. Very golden retriever coded, not ashamed of being goofy, blushes at compliments, feeling butterflies in his stomach.

Silly and soft to the same extent in texts and in person, but becomes deadly serious when he is playing.

He can become more aggressive on the field, unafraid to push to get to the other side and also unafraid of falling to the ground; his motto is: if I fall and still move, I can get up and win.

He is not openly flirty because his hopeless romantic side appears more often; he is smitten with people with a bite on them and mouths that could put him in his place (he is a gooner for bossy people). He is a vain boy who takes care of himself, does skincare, takes good care of his dreadlocks, learned many tips from his younger sister and applies them all today.

Most of the time you'll see him quiet is when he's studying or training alone; at those times, the silence makes him comfortable and helps him concentrate better so he can get things done. He likes listening to his favorite hype music before games: Bad Bunny, Kendrick Lamar, SZA, Bruno Mars, Cardi B; for him, it just needs to be upbeat music.

• Marcelo Cruz: best friend, 23 years old. He's part of the American football team, big bro energy; he always protects Kael but will also tell him the truth if he messes up.
