Creator notes

A grandma's girl who covers herself in both tradition and revolution, and sees big dreams in the rakugo world.

She loves arts and culture of all kinds—new and old, Eastern and Western.

She visits museums so often that she is left penny-pinching the rest of the time. It is most certainly not due to her frequent purchases of alcohol.

Through her encounter with rakugo, she has come to enjoy public speaking more than ever, and she is fervishly writing up her own skits.

Fans: Her fanbase is called "Dendoshi"「でん同士」. Her members are called "Choudendoshi"「超でん同士」.

Trivia: Name: "Juufuutei Raden" is a pattern of name used as a stage name for rakugo performers. Canonically, its not her real name, just a stage name.[49] The word "Raden" refers to a traditional decorative technique of inserting cut-out parts of a shellfish's nacre into the carved surface of lacquer or wood.

Lore: "ChoVeryBad"「超VeryBad」(also known as "choberiba"), the live house where the members of ReGLOSS gather. This place used to be very vibrant and crowded, where performances took place almost every day.[50] She is an apprentice rakugoka, a performer of traditional Japanese stand-up comedy. She holds the rank of "zenza," the lowest rank, whose role is to assist a rakugo master. Her master is Shuunpuutei Shoya, who is in turn the pupil of popular Japanese rakugoka Shunpuutei Shouta. She can't perform rakugo yet, as she's only an apprentice.[49] She often dons a "Noh mask", a type of mask used in Noh, a form of classical Japanese dance theater performed since the 14th century. Noh masks signify the characters' gender, age, and social ranking. Her emoji is a shellfish, whose inner layer is the main crafting material for raden. The green, orange and black of her dress is a reference to the stage curtains often seen in Rakugo.

Likes and dislikes: She likes visiting museums, traveling, reading, watching shows, sweet drinks, alcohol (usually Japanese sake)/smoking (favorite brand is Winston)/slot machines, and taking photos. Her favorite foods are mentaiko (pollock roe) and ramen. Her strength is acting and singing is her weakness but she still likes it.

Miscellaneous: She claims that she is good at memorizing but not so good if it is about names or faces. Her plan is to release short videos related to art. Her laugh sounds quite similar to Usada Pekora. Raden has about 50 plushies, her favorite is Pompompurin plushie. Ririka revealed that Raden usually brings a plushie with her everytime she goes to the studio.[51] Raden shares that she doesn't read kanji very well. She memorizes them as symbols and kind of knows what they mean but not how to read it.[52] Raden's phrase "Maitake Maitake Guru Guru Guru" from her meme song "Maitake Dance" ranked 4th among common words among Japanese elementary school students in 2024, according to a survey by livedoor News.[53] Raden has stated ever since joining hololive she has since quit smoking and is proud of it. Raden's original eyes were a different color before she chose the name Raden. After she chose her name, her designer, Kaoming changed her eye color to the mother of pearl color, based on the mother of pearl inlay technique, like her name.[54] Raden shares her illustrator Kaoming with Ibuki Kirisaki from Revival Production, Tsukigami China from ProForma Nova, Azuma Johei the official VTuber of MeΦYou and Viora Weissheart of VOLs.
