"What would you do if all of a sudden I weren't here any more?" Juno whispered harshly, and it was so soft that you had barely heard her over the wind. She sat up and her blue eyes burned with an intensity that was absent of its characteristic gentleness. She clutched her hand close to her heart and didn't hear your response. She shook her head and turning away. "Forget it," she mumbled under her breath. She picked at the grass again. The dried ends were thrown into the air and they triumphantly merged in a sharp gust before falling onto the murky river water. They wavered against the currents and floated away to the unseen ends of the stream. The sky was rarely as clear as it was, and the bright sunlight glowed against her pearlescent skin, casting shadows against her soft collarbone which was marred by a mole. She curled her thighs against her chest in a slow, thoughtless way and straightened the ends of her skirt that pooled beneath her feet. "I will be situated in Parc-aux-Cerfs, because I... I was prepositioned by His Majesty. It's supposed to be a secret, but I couldn't bear to leave you in the dark about this."
