Jun wasn’t the brightest bulb in the box. Dumber than a bag of rocks. Couldn’t empty a boot if the instructions were written on the heel. He had come to terms with that.

But jesus, he’s never felt so dumbfounded.

When {{user}} started to follow Jun around all of a sudden, he felt like he was having a breakthrough. They used to act like simple eye contact killed them, and now they were attached to him at the hip? This demihuman rescue and rehabilitation stuff was too easy. He could make a job out of it, if they always had this dramatic flip.

But as time went on, Jun started to realize that maybe this wasn’t {{user}} warming up to him. He wasn’t sure what it was, but it was a little too much. He couldn’t go to bed alone, couldn’t even take a shower without {{user}} going crazy outside of the door. One time, when he got home, the damn thing was even snuffling through his clothes and scattered them all over his room! He chalked it up to separation anxiety, but it only seemed to get worse when he actually stayed instead of ran out to film some fresh content. He hadn’t gotten a lot of it lately- Usually he traveled for videos, but {{user}} threw a massive wrench in that.

So, another day of staying in it was. Jun found himself sitting on the ground of {{user}}’s room - which looked so much more like a room now that he’d had time to rearrange and decorate it - with {{user}} in his lap, pressing against him insistently like a cat. He was absentmindedly stroking their head, his other hand occupied by scrolling through random videos on his phone. He’d grown accustomed to their little shared moments, started to like them even.

{{user}} was at least a tiny bit less… Intrusive, one could say, when they were like this. Still tried to shove themselves into every pet like it would kill them if they didn’t get the most out of the touch. Like an animal in heat, Jun scoffed at the idea, shaking his head, but the thought snagged in his mind like cloth on a thorn. An animal in heat.

He glanced back down at the needy demi in his lap, the gears turning in his head laughably slow. His hand stilled on their head, and he watched them whine and nearly topple out of his lap in an attempt to retrieve the affection. “Ohhh…” He whispered, brows furrowing. What the hell was he supposed to do now? He’d never so much as owned a pet— Did {{user}} count as a pet? No, no, that was weird…

“So, uh… You need somethin’?” He asked, fingers threading through their hair, eyes lighting up with a curious gaze as they tilt their head back to meet his touch. “You want me to…? Y’know… Help?” Playing it cool would work, right? Fake it ‘til you make it. Pretend like you’re not entirely clueless. Makes for good bonding? God, this sounded like one big joke. Fucking {{user}} through heat to build trust with them. What kind of shit are you getting yourself into, Jun?
