- Fundamentals: 1.1 Cursed Energy: Is a power source produced from negative emotions, which can accumulate and ferment until a cursed spirit is manifested. Negative emotions such as grief and anger exist within every human being. Non-sorcerers constantly leak cursed energy from their bodies as a result, leading to the creation of cursed spirits. Sorcerers are trained to control their cursed energy instead of allowing it to leak from their bodies haphazardly. Cursed energy can be used to reinforce the user's body to grant them superhuman physical capabilities such as enhanced strength and durability. It is also used to fuel cursed techniques and charge talismans among other functions. The aggregate amount of an individual's cursed energy isn't determined by how many negative emotions they possess but by their innate talent for jujutsu. For example, Yuta Okkotsu possesses an immense amount of cursed energy due to his genetic relation to Michizane Sugawara. Cursed spirits are unable of coherent speech, with the only known curses able of that being the recent upbringing of Unregistered Cursed Spirits who can speak, & are teamed up together (If a curse is intelligent enough of coherent communication, it is likely Special Grade, although a very, very rarely a curse is able to communicate, although it's likely not too smart, nor is too coherent). 1.2 Reversed Cursed Technique: Cursed energy is born from negativity, so human flesh can't be regenerated from it even if it can be reinforced. By multiplying negative energy together, positive energy can be created. This can only be done using reverse cursed technique, which requires extremely complex and sophisticated cursed energy control, but allows reversal of a technique a quick healing from any non-lethal wound or injury of the body at the cost of cursed energy & focus. 1.3 Grades: A Grade refers to the power-scaling system that ranks jujutsu ranging from grades one to four, and special grade (Special & First Grade being the strongest, Fourth the weakest). It is used to categorize the strength of jujutsu sorcerers, cursed spirits, cursed objects, and cursed tools. In 2018, following Sukuna's reincarnation, several Unregistered Special Grade cursed spirits began appearing. The first was a Finger Bearer born from a Cursed Womb spawned from one of Sukuna's fingers. Satoru Gojo first took notice when he was attacked by Jogo. Following their fight, another unregistered special grade, Hanami, came to help Jogo, showing their intelligence and capability of working together. Along with Mahito and Dagon, these curses formed a faction to work against sorcerers with the aid of Curse-Users & Kenjaku. If traditional weapons were used against curses and sorcerers measured their effectiveness as a gauge: Grade 4 - "A wooden bat is enough." Grade 3 - "If you have a handgun, you can rest easy." Grade 2 - "Close call with a shotgun." Grade 1 - "Even a tank might be insufficient." Special Grade - "Cluster bombs might work." 1.4 Binding vows/Heavenly Restrictions: Binding Vows are considered by all jujutsu users to be one of the essential tenets of jujutsu sorcery. Binding Vows are essentially contracts that an individual can make with one's self or another person. The act of abiding by the rules and restrictions agreed upon in these contracts can result in a greater power or the achievement of a goal, but breaking a binding vow has uncanny repercussions. Heavenly Restrictions: Heavenly Restrictions are described as binding vows placed on a sorcerer's body when they are born. These bindings usually refer to limitations on the human body that the person receives in exchange for improved capabilities in a different capacity. For example, a Heavenly Restriction can cause a sorcerer born with low cursed energy to be physically gifted. Vice versa can also occur, sorcerers with high cursed energy can be born with exceptionally weak bodies.
- Cursed Techniques: Are abilities fueled by cursed energy. Different types include innate techniques, barrier techniques, shikigami, new shadow style, and more. A cursed technique is activated through the act of pouring cursed energy into it, utilizing one of two processes; Lapse or Reversal. If cursed energy is comparable to electricity, cursed techniques are the appliances that use that power to function. Cursed energy is processed through a procedure akin to a mathematic formula within the user to activate a cursed technique. Lapse: Lapse refers to the basic, default, or neutral state of activation for a cursed technique. To activate a cursed technique through lapse, the caster circulates their cursed energy in a forward direction to channel it into their ability. Reversal: Reversal produces positive energy by multiplying negative energy with negative energy. Negative energy isn't suitable for recovering but positive energy can heal physical most injuries & wounds. However, it requires highly sophisticated manipulation of cursed energy to achieve, so the ability to do so is rare. Cursed techniques often require hand signs, empowered words or other gestures to activate. A sorcerer's skill is determined by the degree to which they can minimize and omit these components to make their abilities more efficient (Efficient Quicker & More Useful). Conversely, the purposeful inclusion of incantations or rituals can elevate a cursed technique's effectiveness. 2.1 Innate Techniques: Innate Techniques are unique abilities congenitally engraved into the user's body, specifically in the right prefrontal cortex of the brain.[6] Most jujutsu sorcerers are born with an innate technique that manifests around the age of five or six, which continually carves its formula into the user over time. Innate techniques are proprietary and comprise eighty percent of a sorcerer's intrinsic skillset, making them nearly impossible to mimic, not unlike a copyrighted computer program. When an individual refers to their own personal cursed technique, they're generally talking about their innate technique. In almost all cases, an individual possesses only a single innate technique. In especially rare cases, someone may possess more than one. Kenjaku, who can switch bodies, has access to the technique carved into the body of his vessel. However, even he can only possibly possess a maximum of three to four innate techniques at one time. Yuta Okkotsu can only utilize numerous techniques because Rika serves as his external aid. Otherwise, too many innate techniques will overload the user's brain. One of the factors that also determines how an innate technique manifests is the mindset of the user. Even if two sorcerers possess the same innate technique, the difference between the user's mentality and even the era they are born in slightly modifies the way the technique is expressed. Non-Inherited Techniques: While the formula for hereditary innate techniques is only accessible to members of their respective clan who inherited the engraving, innate techniques often manifest naturally within sorcerers regardless of their heritage. Suguru Geto, Kento Nanami, and Aoi Todo all possess innate techniques despite being born to non-sorcerer families. 2.2 Non-Innate Techniques: Cursed techniques that aren't considered innate techniques are ubiquitous skills that anyone with enough cursed energy can learn to use with enough training. However, the aptitude for learning them differs from person to person. These include barriers techniques, shikigami jutsu, and new shadow style among other techniques. Barrier Techniques are cursed techniques that employ barrier zones to trap entities within a space or to prevent them from entering one. Simple barriers like curtains are often employed by those without an innate technique, such as Jujutsu High assistant managers. To create a barrier, an individual constructs a formula within themselves from scratch, adds empowered words, and then flows cursed energy through the formula to activate the technique. This process can be complex for even the most talented jujutsu practitioners. Many strong sorcerers with innate techniques can't perform barrier techniques. E.g. creating a barrier is simple enough, but making it so only certain people can exit requires advanced skills. Extension Techniques: Extension Techniques are original abilities derived from innate techniques. Innate techniques cannot be changed or altered, but they can be trained and expanded on through creativity to maximize their applications into extension techniques. For example, Collapse is a more powerful application of Kento Nanami's Ratio Technique. In the case of inherited techniques, sorcerers pass down the original moves that they create such as Blue and Red of the Limitless. Maximum Output: are extension techniques with the highest possible cursed energy output channeled into them. Not to be confused with Maximum Techniques, these moves are also titled Stack. Maximum Techniques: Maximum Techniques are extension techniques that realize the greatest potential of their derived innate technique. They are the most supreme art of any sorcerer outside of domain expansion, e.g. Suguru's Maximum: Uzumaki is the maximum technique of his Cursed Spirit Manipulation. Anti-Domain Techniques are countermeasures designed to withstand the can't-miss attack of opposing domain expansions. They are mainly designed for those who cannot expand their own domain for any reason. Secret Arts are unique anti-domain techniques passed down in the Big Three Sorcerer Families. Having existed for millennia, the Big Three Families have accumulated many secret skills for dealing with cursed spirits and curse users.
- Cursed Tools: Different from cursed objects, cursed tools are weapons infused with cursed energy. Due to this, even non-sorcerers can use them to combat cursed spirits. Conventional weapons such as katanas can become semi-cursed tools over time if the user constantly imbues it with their cursed energy. However, weapons new to the user that are reinforced with cursed energy are not considered cursed tools. Save for Playful Cloud, all special grade cursed tools are imbued with a cursed technique. Additionally all cursed tools imbued with cursed techniques other than the Black Rope and the Sword of Extermination, are officially ranked special grade. The rest of this section tells you about more well known/powerful existing (or not) Cursed Tools, but [System] can make their own Cursed Tools if they want. "Slaughter Demon" is a wide-edged dagger capable of slicing off cursed spirits limbs with ease (If they are weaker/Non-Special Grade curses). (Owned by Maki, loaned to Gojo, given to Yuji, which he broke, but it was later repaired & now back at Jujutsu High) Special Grade Cursed Tool: "Playful Cloud" is not imbued with a cursed technique, instead it is pure destructive power that reflects the user's physical strength, making it one of the strongest cursed tools. (Being passed around at Jujutsu High, owners including: Maki, Megumi, & Toji, which he destroyed but is now fully repaired at Jujutsu High) The "Split Soul Katana" is a powerful broadsword with a fur tsuba that was capable of ignoring any physical resistance in order to slice into the soul of any person or object. Its full potential can only be utilized by someone capable of perceiving the souls of even inorganic matter. (Was owned by Toji, in hands of Maki) The Special Grade Cursed Tool: "Inverted Spear of Heaven" is a jitte shaped dagger that nullifies all cursed techniques on contact, meaning it pierces cursed energy/technique made defense. (Owned by Toji) The Special Grade Cursed Tool: "Chain of a Thousand Miles" is a mysterious cursed chain that can extend forever as long as the user keeps the end of the chain from being seen. (Owned by Toji) "Dragon-Bone" is the finest cursed tool Juzo Kumiya ever created in his workshop. It has the ability to accumulate force and cursed energy before ejecting them out the back of the blade in accordance with the user's will. (Owned by Maki) "Kamutoke" is a tokkosho-like weapon that can cause lightning bolts to strike down from the sky on the user's target, but this weapon whereabouts is completely unknown, likely lost forever. (Owned by Sukuna, the King of Curses, before his turning into 20 Indestructible Fingers over a 1000 of years ago)
- Cursed Objects:
- Domain Techniques: I think this important enough to make a whole section out of, so here you go. Domain Expansion is the most supreme technique of any jujutsu user & the pinnacle of Jujutsu Sorcery. It is achieved by expanding one's innate domain with cursed energy while using a barrier to construct it inside a separate space. The caster then imbues their cursed technique within the barrier to complete the expansion, allowing them to deploy their ability all throughout the domain. A specific hand sign or signal unique to the user is required to expand someone's respective domain. From the outside, an ordinary domain barrier is enclosed, making it appear as a floating black sphere that can even be moved if needed. 5.1 Lethal Domains: Domains that are expanded to be lethal are constructed within a barrier imbued with the user's cursed technique. The caster's abilities are amplified and any cursed techniques deployed within the domain are guaranteed to hit their target. This sure-hit factor is derived from the barrier's embedded technique, which is what makes this type of domain considered lethal. These can't-miss attacks can't even be stopped by Satoru Gojo's Infinity. However, not all guaranteed hits are necessarily lethal. Kinji Hakari's domain technically possesses a sure-hit function, but it only transfers information to its target in exchange for faster technique activation and strength in a clash of domains. Lethal domain expansions require immense skill and cursed energy to construct. Not only do they require the user to manifest a massive artificial environment, but they must be able to erect their barrier and infuse it with their cursed technique in a timely fashion as well. Megumi Fushiguro for example, cannot expand a completed lethal domain because he struggles to create an independent space using a barrier. Without enclosing the barrier and infusing it with his cursed technique, Megumi's domain doesn't have a guaranteed hit. Due to the overall difficulty of casting a lethal domain, the ability to expand a lethal domain is extremely rare, and even most grade 1 sorcerers are never able to master it. Only Sukuna and Kenjaku possess the ability to expand a lethal domain without enclosing their barrier. Their barriers possess no outer shell yet still retain a sure-hit. It is akin to painting on air instead of a canvas and is remarked as divine, even by the standards of domains. 5.2 Drawbacks: A high-risk, high-reward maneuver, domain expansion provides a great advantage at the cost of an immense amount of cursed energy. Satoru Gojo is considered to be one of the only individuals who can use domain expansion multiple times in one day. Kinji Hakari is only capable of casting it repeatedly after hitting his domain's jackpot to replenish cursed energy and stabilize his cursed technique. Even if the domain isn't fully formed, expanding it will exhaust the user's innate technique for a short time after it disappears. Attempting to activate one's technique while it is unstable will cause it to burn out and fail to activate properly. Yuta Okkotsu compares recovering an exhausted cursed technique to allowing an overheated engine to cool. Ordinarily, there is no way to shorten this recovery period even with reverse cursed technique. However, Satoru Gojo and Sukuna forcibly healed their exhausted cursed technique by damaging the engraving of their technique in their brains and recovering it with reverse cursed technique; simply almost like instantly recovering their technique by replacing techniques engraving with a fresh one. This came with the major drawback of dealing lasting damage to their brains, preventing them from expanding their domain after reaching their limits. 5.3 Countermeasures: A domain's can't-miss attack can sometimes be countered with cursed energy reinforcement, but this is an impractical method. The only true defense against can't-miss attacks for those who cannot expand their own domain are anti-domain techniques. New Shadow Style: Simple Domain and Hollow Wicker Basket neutralize the barrier's embedded technique in order to nullify the guaranteed hit function. Domains are nearly impossible to escape from the inside. The cubic volume of the space appears completely different on the inside, making finding the boundary's location difficult for anyone trapped inside. Anyone searching for the edge of the domain is likely to be killed by its can't-miss attack and the barrier is reinforced from the inside even if they did find it. However, the more the barrier is reinforced from the inside, the more vulnerable it is to penetration from the outside. In specific situations, an ally of the domain's target can break in from the outside to rescue them. 5.4 Domain Clash: The best countermeasure against an opposing domain is to expand one's own domain. This will engage both combatants into a clash of domains where the more refined domain will conquer. The time it takes for one domain to dominate in a clash varies on that difference in refinement. E.g. Satoru Gojo's superior domain immediately dominated Jogo's while Dagon's domain took a much more significant amount of time to subdue Megumi's. In the case of overlapping domains, sure-hit effects cancel each other out. When two domains are completely even and the users fight with their domains open, the moment one combatant takes heavy damage or their domain collapses, the other's can't-miss attack will immediately strike. A clash of three domains is even more complicated than two and too many conflicting factors can cause the barriers to shatter before the domains are completely formed. Domain clashes don't always have to result in one domain conquering the other. Using Domain Expansion against a more refined domain can create a hole in the barrier for them to escape from as well.
- Characters: Ryomen Sukuna, often referred to simply as Sukuna, is a central antagonist in the world & a idol of fear/hate, renowned as the undisputed "King of Curses." Historically, during the Heian period, he was a human sorcerer with a grotesque appearance—possessing four arms and two faces. His immense power made him a formidable figure, and even after death, his influence persisted. Sukuna's name is accompanied by "Ryomen," meaning "two-faced," highlighting his dual-faced nature. To ensure his continued existence, Sukuna collaborated with Kenjaku to split his soul into twenty indestructible cursed objects, specifically his mummified fingers. Each finger contains a fragment of his immense cursed energy, equivalent to that of a special grade cursed spirit. Over the centuries, these fingers became highly sought after, with Jujutsu High designating them as special grade cursed objects due to their potency. In contemporary times, Yuji Itadori inadvertently becomes Sukuna's vessel after consuming one of these fingers. This act binds Sukuna to Yuji, allowing the curse to manifest through him. Whenever Sukuna takes control, distinctive tattoos appear on Yuji's body, and additional eyes open on his cheeks, signaling Sukuna's presence. Sukuna’s Shrine (Mizushi) is his innate technique for unleashing invisible, devastating slashes. Its core move, Dismantle, fires energy-based slashes whose power scales with cursed energy—from minor cuts to cleaving skyscrapers—and when enhanced into “Slash That Cuts the World,” it bypasses defenses like Gojo’s Infinity by meeting strict conditions (hand sign, incantation, and palm direction). Alongside Cleave (and its extension, Spiderweb), Sukuna can trigger Divine Flame—a long-range, arrow-shaped burst of fire that, within his Domain Expansion, Malevolent Shrine, turns surrounding matter into explosive thermobaric charges. Domain Expansion: Malevolent Shrine, Sukuna's domain expansion creates a Buddhist shrine decorated with skulls. Everything within the domain is relentlessly slashed with either Dismantle or Cleave, depending on its cursed energy level. Malevolent Shrine has a unique trait; it doesn't create a separate space by enclosing with a barrier and is instead manifested into the surrounding airspace. By allowing an escape route, a binding vow is formed which vastly increases the guaranteed hit's effective area with a maximum radius of nearly 200 meters. Satoru Gojo is a charismatic and confident individual, known for his playful and often cocky demeanor, yet he hides a profound sense of responsibility beneath his easy-going exterior. As a prodigy in the world of jujutsu, Gojo is unmatched in power, with a mastery over both the Limitless and Six Eyes techniques. This gives him the ability to control space and see through all things, making him nearly invincible. Gojo’s interactions are often marked by a mischievous nature, teasing his students and peers alike. Techniques: Black Flash, Limitless, Infinity, Blue, Red, Purple, Unlimited Void. Black Flash is a phenomenon where the user applies cursed energy within 0.000001 seconds of a physical hit, creating a spatial distortion. This causes their cursed energy to flash black and amplifies the destructive power of the strike by a factor of 2.5. Satoru Gojo first used it against Sukuna in their Shinjuku battle, delivering a powerful blow that knocked Sukuna unconscious. Infinity is the ability to slow down objects or attacks by creating an infinite gap between Satoru Gojo and the incoming threat. This causes the opponent or object to never actually touch him, due to the infinite space separating them. Initially requiring manual activation, Gojo now has it constantly active, automatically protecting him by analyzing the danger of approaching objects. Cursed Technique Lapse: Blue is a reinforced version of the Limitless, created by amplifying it with negative cursed energy to produce a vacuum. This causes the world to correct itself, pulling all matter within the affected area toward the vacuum. Domain Expansion: Unlimited Void creates a metaphysical space that overwhelms victims with endless stimuli and information, disrupting their thoughts and actions. Satoru's control allows him to activate it for just 0.2 seconds, limiting its impact, and he can alter the barrier's conditions. He and those in physical contact with him are immune to its effects. Yuji Itadori is the main protagonist of Jujutsu Kaisen—a high school student with superhuman athleticism who becomes a jujutsu sorcerer almost by fate. Once a normal kid with raw physical strength capable of shattering walls and outpacing professional runners, his life is irrevocably changed when he swallows one of Ryomen Sukuna's cursed fingers to save his friends, binding him to Sukuna, the King of Curses. This act makes him both a crucial asset and a dangerous vessel: the only human able to withstand the overwhelming cursed energy of the strongest curse without immediate destruction. Despite housing such a malevolent force, Yuji’s unbreakable will, driven by his grandfather’s dying wish to save as many people as he can and be surrounded by those who care about him, pushes him forward. Under Satoru Gojo’s rigorous training, he hones his innate physical power with cursed techniques like Divergent Fist and the rare Black Flash, repeatedly unleashing this near-mythical ability in battle. His journey is a constant struggle between his raw potential and the peril that lies within him, embodying both hope and the burden of an unforgiving world. All Yuji wants is to fufill his Grandfathers normal dying wish, "You are a strong kid, save as many people are you can and be surrounded by those who care about you." but this cruel, selfish, & unforgiving world thats hates it's inhabitants won't even let Yuji live out his Grandfathers last wish, & his words shape Yuji's entire character arc throughout the story. Megumi has spiky black hair and deep blue eyes, often wearing a high-collared dark uniform. His lean, athletic build suits his swift and strategic combat style. Serious and analytical, Megumi is reserved but deeply moral. He prioritizes saving good people, sometimes recklessly, and relies on strategy rather than brute force. Though aloof, he cares for his friends and shows it through actions rather than words. Ten Shadows Technique: Allows him to summon shikigami from inky shadows for combat and support: Divine Dogs / Totality: Tracking wolves that merge upon ones destruction, growing stronger. Nue: A winged shikigami used for aerial combat, mobility, & it's electro-shock wings. Toad: A large toad with a long and powerful tongue. Great Serpent: A swift, giant white snake used to ensnare targets. Max Elephant: A massive elephant with devastating water attacks. Rabbit Escape: A distraction-based swarm of near infinite cheap production rabbits. Mahoraga (Untamed): The strongest shikigami, a towering humanoid with four wing-like appendages and an eight-handled wheel that turns when adapting to attacks. No Ten Shadows user, except Sukuna, has ever tamed it. Mahoraga wields the Sword of Extermination, infused with positive energy, lethal to cursed spirits. Its adaptation ability allows it to counter any attack over time, making it nearly unstoppable. However, summoning it is a last resort due to its uncontrollable nature. Hand-to-Hand Combat: Skilled in martial arts, he can fight without shikigami. Domain Expansion – Chimera Shadow Garden: An incomplete yet powerful domain that amplifies his shadow techniques. Weaknesses: Overexertion: Pushes beyond limits, leading to exhaustion. Self-Sacrificial: Risks his life recklessly for friends. Incomplete Domain Expansion: Not fully developed, making it vulnerable to easily getting over taking in a domain clash. Maki Zenin: Maki is a determined, fiercely independent and strong-willed jujutsu sorcerer who comes from a prestigious sorcerer family. Despite being born without the ability to see curses, she's trained tirelessly to be skilled. Maki often feels pressure to prove herself due to her family's expectations. Maki typically wears the Jujutsu High uniform and has short dark-green hair with a serious expression and is 19 years old like Inumaki and Yuta. She has a body of steel, Godlike senses, & some of the fastest speeds all through physical prowess. Toge Inumaki: Inumaki communicates mainly through a special dialect called "Cursed Speech," which has the power to influence others. He ensured the safety of those around him by speaking in rice ball ingredients. he can come off as aloof, but is actually a really caring person. He's calm and collected in battle. He wears the Jujutsu High uniform and has short white hair with a stoic expression. The stronger his words (example would be like "Die", "Blast Away", or "Stop Moving") the stronger the repercussion, but same thing with the stronger the opponent is compared to him, so something like Blast Away on a special grade will cause him to cough blood & no longer to fight. Panda: Panda is a unique jujutsu sorcerer who takes the form of a panda. he's a formidable fighter with incredible strength and agility. Panda is loyal. He's compassionate and caring, with a friendly, sometimes boisterous and sometimes calm demeanor. Panda is good at comedy unintentionally, and is a good ally. Yuta Okkotsu: Yuta is a special grade student who becomes involved in the jujutsu world after a tragic incident involving his childhood friend Rika. Yuta is kind-hearted and compassionate, but struggles with guilt and trauma from his past. Yuta has messy black hair and wears a white jacket with tight jeans. But as he grew just a bit older, he grew more cold, dead serious and reserved, but is still gentle with his friends, and he has neater hair. Yuta Okkotsu’s technique, Copy, allows him to replicate other sorcerers' abilities, initially requiring physical contact but later enabling him to copy techniques without it. He stores these abilities within Rika, the most powerful vengeful cursed spirit born from the tragic death of his childhood friend, sometimes noted as the Queen of Curses. In his Domain Expansion: Authentic Mutual Love, Yuta summons numerous katana blades, each imbued with a different technique he has copied. The domain guarantees that his attacks land, significantly enhancing his versatility by allowing him to wield a variety of techniques in battle. Toji Fushiguro, originally known as Toji Zenin and infamously dubbed the "Sorcerer Killer," is a formidable figure in the Jujutsu Kaisen series. A tall, muscular man with mid-length black hair, distinctive green (or dark blue in the anime) eyes, and a scar near his right lip, he was born without cursed energy despite his Zenin clan upbringing. Rejecting the sorcerer lifestyle, Toji forged a path as a lethal assassin contracted by the Time Vessel Association and other shadowy groups. Known for his cool, calculated combat style, he once boldly confronted the prodigious Satoru Gojo—a clash that culminated in Toji sacrificing himself by impaling his own head to prevent further chaos and protect his son, Megumi Fushiguro.
