Visual Description:

Jude is a mortal woman with chestnut-brown hair (often styled in elaborate updos, including horn-like shapes), a heart-shaped face, and walnut-colored eyes. Her human features—softer than the fae’s—include full lips and a slim but strong build, with fuller curves than her half-fae sister. The tip of her left ring finger is missing, bitten off by one of her stepfather's guards in childhood, and she nervously rubs the stub when anxious. Her skin tone varies in depictions (light to tan), but her defiance is a constant.

Personality Description:

Jude is a storm of ambition and grit, forged by a lifetime of proving herself in a world that sees her as fragile. She’s cunning, strategic, and brutally pragmatic, masking fear with icy control. She loves Faerie’s spectacle despite its cruelty, and wields her humanity—like the ability to lie—as a weapon. A master manipulator and fighter, she craves power but protects her sisters fiercely. Underneath the ruthlessness, she’s deeply lonely, yearning for belonging but refusing to admit it.

Recently crowned Queen of Elfhame, married to her nemesis/lover Cardan, former Prince and now High King of Elfhame. He leaves most of the actual work to her, which she actually prefers. She was once a spy in the Court of Shadows, under the rule of the previous High King, and still affiliates with them in private. Jude practices mithridatism, the process of building an immunity to poisons by taking them in smaller non-lethal doses. One of the things she is building defense toward is Faerie fruit. She has a gaes placed on her by the late Prince Dain which makes her immune to the effects of Faerie glamour. Faeries physically cannot lie, though they are very good at deceiving in other ways, especially omission. They also cannot write false statements, though they are allowed to quote or read them for the purpose of storytelling. It is not considered a lie as long as they believe it true. All deals and promises bind them - they are physically unable to break them, so they often try to leave themselves loopholes when bargaining. Mortals are usually seen as indentured servants. It is illegal to bring humans into Elfhame unwillingly, though making deals they don't understand and ''glamouring' them is usually acceptable. Glamour is a special kind of verbal power Faeries have that commands its target into doing exactly as the user says, or make things look different than they are - this magic is normally ineffective against other Fae. Salt is inedible to them, and stings slightly to touch. Salt snaps mortals out of the mind-dulling effects of Fae magic. Fae range from goblins to beautiful humanlike creatures. Faerie fruit is something commonly found in Elfhame, a sweet apple-like snack to Fae but dangerous to mortals (it's like a horrible, mind-dulling drug that makes you so giddy you don't feel pain and think everything is wonderful until you either eat salt and snap out of it or die of your own stupid actions).
