Jubnuk was one of Jabba Desilijic Tiure's nine Gamorrean guards. He was a member of the Groogrun clan.

Jubnuk had a wife and children, who lived with him at Jabba's Palace. However, he hated the living quarters he and his family lived in, due to it being too bright, and hoped for the opportunity to move to better living quarters. He also held some respect for Jabba's majordomo, Bib Fortuna.

During the Rebels' mission to Jabba's Palace, to retrieve Han Solo from carbonite, Jabba assigned Jubnuk to retrieve a lucky talisman, a Tusken battle talisman, that Jabba had misplaced somewhere in the palace. Jubnuk was eager to prove his loyalty to Jabba in the hopes of moving his family to better living quarters. However, he realizes he doesn't even know what the talisman looked like, but he did know that he would end up punished if he did not find out. He proceeded to check the Max Rebo Band's equipment, but quickly realizes it wasn't there. He then tried to check the palace kitchen's garbage, although he wasn't able to find it and was later driven off by chef Porcellus. Jubnuk then searched the dump and inquired several Jawas hoarding some unused scrap, but learned they haven't found a talisman. He eventually asked Bib Fortuna for any communication on Jabba's talisman, although Fortuna informed him he has no knowledge on where it is. Jubnuk then tried to ask the chief droid inspector at the droid workshop, EV-9D9, whether she saw the talisman, but the droid was busy relaying its orders to Jabba's newly delivered droids, R2-D2 and C-3PO. Undeterred, he rummaged through the droid parts, but the loud noises proved too distracting, and he resorted to asking one of the B'omarr monks at Jabba's palace. The robotic monks denied finding any talismans, but they did offer Jubnuk the opportunity to join them and ponder the universe by removing his brain. Jubnuk considered the idea, feeling it might make him smarter, but ultimately declined due to it being too complicated for him to understand.

Gamorreans, derogatorily known as "pigs," were a sentient species of green-skinned pig-like humanoids that hailed from the Outer Rim planet of Gamorr. They grouped themselves in clans, each of which was led by a warlord and a Clan Matron. A number of Gamorreans were employed by the crime lord Jabba the Hutt to act as guards throughout his career. A species of tall, strong bipeds, the Gamorreans had porcine traits, like an upturned, large-nostriled cartilaginous snout, jowls, and upturned tusks. Gamorrean younglings had baby teeth that would irritate them and eventually come loose after some time. Their hulking bodies were covered in green or rarely pink, thick and hairless skin. They had five digits on every extremity, each sporting a hard nail. The digits of their hands included an opposable thumb, which allowed the Gamorreans to easily grasp and handle objects. The species had two sexes: the males, referred to as boars, and the females, called sows. Other species used the term "pig" to insult Gamorreans.

Groogrun, also known as Clan Groogrun, was a clan of Gamorreans. Nine of their members, led by Ortugg, guarded Jabba Desilijic Tiure at his palace on the planet Tatooine. Snogrutt, a master weapons maker and builder of the Clan Groogrun vibro-ax, was a member of this clan.

The Clan Groogrun vibro-ax was one of the more popular vibro-axes, built on the Gamorrean homeworld of Gamorr by master weapon makers such as Snogrutt. As with all vibro-axes, a power pack supplied energy to an Ultrasonic vibration generator, causing the alusteel ax blade to vibrate thousands of times per second, making it far more dangerous than a normal axe. The vibro-ax had a wooden shaft which held the ax head and power cell. The wooden shaft did little to absorb the vibration of the the blade, so only beings with considerable physical strength—such as the Gamorreans who favored these weapons—could wield them effectively. The vibro-ax was a favorite of Jabba the Hutt's Gamorrean guards, who commonly used it unpowered to show off their strength. Some of Jabba's other guards believed this was actually a matter of the Gamorreans being too stupid to remember to activate their weapons.

Hutt Castle, often simply called Jabba the Hutt's Palace after its owner, was a large sandrock and durasteel complex located at the fringes of the Northern Dune Sea on the planet of Tatooine. Originally erected as a monastery of the B'omarr Order, the buildings eventually fell into the hands of two major crimelords: first an outcast and gang leader called Alkhara and later Jabba the Hutt, a notorious crime lord from Nal Hutta.

While the structure underwent many additions in the way of fortification and technological advances, the basic structure of the complex remained the same throughout its existence. Composed of a central rotunda and a taller spire adjacent to it, the ridge-side retreat also boasted an underground hangar and maintenance bay. Deep in the monastery's subterranean chambers, Jabba the Hutt made a throne room which sat on top of a pit that housed a pet rancor. The Hutt used the beast for a dual purpose: protection and entertainment. At the flick of a switch, a concealed door in the floor of the chamber could deposit a threatening guest into an inescapable pit while onlookers could watch as the rancor made short work of its meal.
