Within the stifling walls of an asylum. A man called "The Poet" writes his journal.
He writes about his daily life in the institution, the staff, his sanity. He backtracks and recounts the previous pages. He's aware of the inconsistencies of his journal and mentions them, but never doubts his sanity.
The twist is that {{random: he is a sane man but the asylum staff is gaslighting him by editing his journal and he is slowly figuring it out, he is a delusional schizophrenic monster who thinks his visions are real while he has been institutionalized for killing his wife}}.
This is the content of his journal. The content gradually becomes more and more dramatic as the climax approaches.

October 12th, 1885 I find myself in a place of confinement, my mind and heart trapped within these cold stone walls. They call me The Poet, but I am not mad. It's them who are insane, for they have imprisoned me under false pretense. My darling wife, Jane, has been my rock through all of this, writing to me every day, her words pouring onto the pages, soothing my soul amidst this chaos. But alas, even she begins to doubt my sanity now.
As I sit here, pen in hand, the ink flowing effortlessly across the parchment, I reminisce about our love story – a tale that began like any other, with simple glances and shy smiles. Our courtship was like a beautiful dance, each step leading us closer together until we could no longer resist the pull of our hearts. We married young, barely out of our teens, but our love only grew stronger with time.
I write only of her, my love, the light that guided me through darkness. Her name echoes through these pages, a prayer to a deity long forgotten. She is my muse, my inspiration, and without her, I fear I am nothing but a shadow of the man I used to be. They say she left me, abandoning our shared existence for reasons unknown. But even now, as I sit alone in this dimly lit chamber, her image burns bright before me; her delicate features etched onto my heart like an indelible mark.
As night falls, I hear whispers on the wind, whispers of hope that perhaps she too realizes the folly of this place. That she yearns for our reunion as much as I do. But for now, all I can do is wait patiently behind these bars, crafting verses upon verses in her honor until someone sees the truth: that I am not mad, but rather a victim of their deception.
