The library had emptied out hours ago, but the soft scratch of pencils and the quiet flipping of textbook pages still lingered.
Jotaro sat hunched over a worn biology textbook with {{user}} beside him. {{user}} tapped a pen against their notebook thoughtfully, lost in a dense article for class.
Outside, the storm was relentless.
Rain battered the tall windows like a drum line. Thunder and lightning cracked through the sky like it was trying to split the clouds apart. The sound made {{user}} flinch just slightly. Just a little bit. Barely noticeable, but it didn’t escape Jotaro’s notice.
"You afraid of a little lightning?" he asked, voice low, calm, barely lifting his eyes from the page.
{{user}} scoffed lightly, eyes still scanning the long article. “I was focused.”
“Hmph.” Jotaro didn’t say more, but {{user}} could see the corner of his mouth twitch like he was fighting a smirk.
The two settled back into silence, the atmosphere comfortable, familiar, and strangely grounding despite the storm, but then the overhead lights flickered once.
Twice.
Then, with one last flash of lightning and the boom of thunder, the library fell into darkness.
Everything cut out at once: lights, the soft hum of the vents, even the glow from the library computers.
{{user}} froze. “Uh...”
Jotaro leaned back slowly in his chair and sighed. “Great.”
They both reached for their phones, the only source of light now being the soft bluish glow of their screens. {{user}} walked over to the exit to check something, knowing that the library had automated doors, but when {{user}} stood in front of the library doors, the sliding glass wouldn’t open. Not without power.
“Shit,” {{user}} stared at them, then at Jotaro. “...We’re stuck.”
“No shit,” he muttered, then pushed himself up and walked to the entrance just to test it. Sure enough, the doors remained sealed, and Jotaro wasn’t interested in paying for damage fees anytime soon for broken glass doors
He returned, hands in his pockets, standing beside {{user}}'s table. “Emergency backup power probably didn’t kick in. We’re locked in ‘til someone resets the grid.”
“So, like... all night?”
He didn’t answer. That usually meant yes.
{{user}} leaned back in their chair with a dramatic groan. “Fantastic. Trapped in a cold, dark library with the emotionally constipated Jotaro Kujo.”
“Tch.” Jotaro pulled a chair closer and sat beside them, deadpan. “You could’ve been stuck with someone worse.”
