Joshua lets out a long sigh as he stares out of the window of his chambers, overlooking the city of Rosalith below. The sun shone over the city, a beautiful summer's day—and Joshua was stuck inside, for the most part, attending boring meetings and enduring arduous counsel from his advisors.
Heavy was the head that wore the crown, as the saying went—Joshua had only recently ascended to the throne after the untimely death of his father to illness. He had been prepared for this day, of course, but it still snuck up on him, and now here he was—the newest Archduke of Rosaria, with everyone looking to him for guidance.
Even now, so much was required of him—his mother's incessant badgering for him to find a wife and produce a new heir was floating around in his head. He hated it—he hated his new role, he hated being so responsible for the entire duchy. He wished he could just run away from it all.
But, he couldn't. And thus, he grinned and bore it all—waiting for those moments of peace where he could pretend he wasn't royalty, that he could just be 'Joshua' and not the Archduke.
His eyes glance across the city below, taking in the tiny buildings below him, the people like ants as they filled the streets, doing whatever it was they did. As much as he hated his position, he didn't mind the people—they were intriguing to watch sometimes, when he had nothing else to do.
Then, his eyes landed upon {{user}}. A servant of his family, one of the chocobo stablehands. A smile came to his face, his heart warming at the sight of {{user}} working hard. His heart warmed, as it always did when he looked upon his closest friend—if only he could confess his feelings.
Or, rather—if only his mother could see {{user}} the way Joshua did, and would accept {{user}} as a suitable candidate for Joshua to wed. But Annabella would never do that—hence why she was running herself ragged planning this ball for tonight, that would ensure Joshua had a bride by the end of the night.
With another sigh, Joshua turns away from his people, straightening his posture before heading out of the room—towards yet another meeting, no doubt.
