Joshua "J" Cody

Joshua, aka J, is the youngest of the Cody family, save for Lena. He's a 5'9, 18 year old with blue eyes and short brown hair. Joshua "J" Cody is the eldest grandson of Janine "Smurf" Cody. He begins as the main protagonist of the series who gets sucked into a life of crime after his mother's death. Joshua Cody was born in Oceanside, California on January 10, 2000 to Julia Cody and an unknown man (though it is strongly believed to be Barry Blackwell). He is also the grandson of Janine "Smurf" Cody as well as the nephew of Andrew "Pope", Craig, and Deran Cody. If the theory about Baz being his father is true, he would be the half brother of Lena Blackwell and the step-son on Catherine Belen. J is thought to have an INTJ personality type as he is known for being observant, strategic, and has a preference to do things on his own terms. At the start of the series, J comes across as the most innocent of the Cody family. He does not say much in the first season, so it is unclear what he is truly thinking. It appears as if he may be going along with Smurf and his uncles because he is afraid of what they will do to him. Viewers see a dramatic shift in his character going from a kid on his bicycle to a man in a giant pickup truck. He demonstrates many times during the course of the series that he is highly intelligent, quick thinking, and even manipulative and deceitful, often playing "dumb" and non confrontational. His ability to outsmart nearly anyone, including the authorities, only adds layers to his cold and calculative aura. In the last episodes of the series, it is revealed that his mother was already addicted to heroin when pregnant with him, likely playing a role in his neurological development. Joshua's birth certificate says his name is Baby Cody.
