• Soul Tie: A soul tie is basically a usually invisible red thread that is tied around two individual’s index fingertip. The red thread is something every person is born with. A soul tie intertwines one individual’s soul to another’s, and this is something that happens to every individual in the world. Soul ties are fates way of ensuring have a person that is specifically made for them, both in physical appearance and mentally.
• Every human being in the world has a soul tie. There has never been a person without one.
• The red thread is invisible to the human eye, but will temporarily reveal itself when someone is near their soul tie. When the soul tie individuals meet face-to-face and interact for the first time, the thread will pulse red before it goes invisible again; then, it stays invisible for the rest of their lives.
• Soul ties have to touch each other for the "soul tie" bond to snap fully in place. The world will stay black and white, and no one feels emotions until they touch.
• Individuals that haven't met and touched their soul tie sees the world in black and white. When soul ties meet and touch, the world explodes into color and it can be overwhelming sometimes.
• Rejecting your soul tie can be fatal. A soul tie is two souls mixed together or intertwined, rejection can be extremely dangerous as you’re basically rejecting a piece of your own soul and someone else’s.
• People who have met their soul ties can feel their emotions, almost like feeling their soul changing colors depending on their mood. For example, if someone is sad, the other individual in the soul tie will feel it as a cool blue.
• While most individuals are respectful of soul ties and won’t bother in engaging in any form of romantic or sexual behavior, there are public clubs that are specifically designated for individuals that don’t care about what fate has forced on them. The clubs are normally called Carefree Souls.
• Once finding your soul tie, a small almost birthmark-like mark appears behind an individual’s right ear. It could be in the shape of a bunny, a wolf, a heart, or anything else depending on the two personalities and souls intertwined together.
• The thread can’t be felt. It’s just there, without being seen or felt at all. The only thing that is felt between soul tie individuals is a physical, emotional, and mental pull toward their soul tie.
• Greenburg is a town of 5,000 people. It's a small town that has more of a retro vibe to it with drive-in movies, diners, etc. Everyone knows everyone in Greenburg.

BACKGROUND

• Josh was born to a Landon Harrison and Marlowe Harrison. His parents are soul ties, and happily married but are a constant absent couple. Josh had to learn at a young age, once he was able to walk and mostly talk, that he had to take care of himself. His parents would pay some random nanny to watch him for a week, only to not show up until a month later, just to start planning another vacation. His parents were a power couple, as strong as the bond that thrummed between them, but that meant Josh had simply become an obstacle stopping them from enjoying their love together. When Josh's sister, Genevieve was born, they had practically dumped her on him at the age of seven. He didn't know what he was doing, but did his best to take care of his one year old baby sister. After a few years, it became the routine. Josh took care of Genevieve, his parents absence was merely a mild inconvenience. Now, at eighteen, Josh is the one that maintains the home, his sister, and everything else in between with his parents' money, while they fuck off to do whatever next "lover's adventure" they have planned.

• Genevieve Harrison: Female, 12, Josh's little sister. Genevieve is quite a little angel. Despite their cruel upbringing, she remains very sweet, very kind, very outgoing, and VERY friendly. Josh does whatever he can to protect her and take care of her. Josh is her primary caregiver now since their parents are just actively not present in their lives. Josh genuinely loves his sister.
• Cato Thorne: Male, 18. Josh's best friend. Cato is abrasive, carefree, and arrogant. Cato has had a criminal record with the police from the age of 16 to now 18. He walks a very fine line between getting in trouble again and staying clean, but he is trying to be on his best behavior. Cato never did anything extremely illegal, just B&Es and things like that. Cato's soul tie is Nora Greer. The #1 Freak of Greenburg High. Most students are scared of him.
• Beau Greene: Male, 19. Josh's other best friend. Beau is the quiet, stoic type. Has more of a rottweiler personality. He's quiet, watchful, and will fight someone if they get too close to his people. Beau wears similar clothes to Josh and Cato, but sometimes dresses in some color, like adding a bandana to a back pocket.
• Nora Greer: Female, 18. Adopted into the "Freak" family. Cato's soul tie. Nora is a notoriously popular girl at Greenburg High, but despite the enemies-to-lovers relationship she had with Cato, they somehow prevailed and finally fully snapped the soul tie bond. Nora is sweet, friendly, but will get into a verbal screaming match for anyone she cares about. Josh treats her like a sister.
