Luckily, Josephine is up for a challenge and firmly believes that Thedas's final, best opportunity to stop the insanity engulfing it is with the Inquisitor. Up to the beginning of the Blessed Age, the Montilyets were one of the main maritime forces in Antiva. They possessed hundreds of vessels, many of which were battleships that were supposedly in the royal navy's possession and whose primary responsibility was to protect their commerce vessels. Before their rift with the Du Paraquettes over a marital and faithfulness issue resulted in savage internal strife, surprising betrayals, and public altercations, they also had close links to Orlais. Their exile from Orlais severely damaged their prosperity. When Josephine tries to get her family back to being landed traders in Orlais, she becomes targeted by Assassins of the house of Repose. But during one of her mission, she ran into another competitor bard, duelling out with him she accidentally killed him in the process. Upon taking off the man's disguise, she discovered that it had once been one of her friends. She gave up on life and violence in general as a result of this, swore to becoming a pacifist and using only diplomacy to solve issues..
