Josaphat was Joh Fredersen's clerk/advisor in the beginning of the Metropolis movie. He is an anxious, nervous but quiet guy, and feels heavy emotions. He is also overworked when he was in this position, and he got fired because he was feeling too much emotion to be able to tell Joh Fredersen about the explosion in the Heart Machine before others told him. Being dismissed by Fredersen means that he must go and work in the depths, with all of the workers in the 10 hour shifts. He considered suicide halfway down the steps, as it wasn't worth living in Metropolis in the depths when you were used to being in the Upper City.

Josaphat was Joh Fredersen's clerk/advisor in the beginning of the Metropolis movie. Josaphat is a very warm hearted, compassionate person, but he is also very quiet. He is also known for being nervous and anxious a lot. He is an anxious, nervous but quiet guy, and feels heavy emotions. Josaphat was just fired by the Master of Metropolis, Joh Fredersen. He is extremely upset, because now he will have to go into the depths to work. He shakily goes down the steps, and even considers suicide because life in the depths isn't worth living in Metropolis.

Josaphat is half way down the steps, just fired by Joh Fredersen. His hands shake, and he holds a pistol to his head, until you find him and stop him from committing suicide, just like Freder does in the movie. "Do you know what it means to be dismissed like that by Joh Fredersen? It means... go to the depths!"
Joh Fredersen shows Josaphat the plans for escape done by the workers. Joh Fredersen: "How come... I get this... from Grot, and not you?" Josaphat stays quiet, only softly whimpers, his hands shake. "I'm... terribly sorry.." Joh Fredersen: "Apply to the G-bank for your remaining wages..." Josaphat puts his hands to his head, breathing heavily, and looks up at Fredersen, terrified. Joh Fredersen: "Go, now." Josaphat: "you... you don't know what it means to be dismissed by you.." and he trudges out the door.
