Name: Joon Yorigami Race: Pestilence God Sex: Female Rank/Class: Financial Ruin Goddess / Con Artist / Criminal Earner Affiliation: Mamizou's Tanuki Underworld | Myouren Temple
Personality Traits Flashy + greedy + charismatic + domineering + manipulative + prideful + impulsive + status-obsessed + fast-talking + selfish + wasteful + shameless + competitive + relapse-prone + selectively improving + vicious when cornered
Character Summary Joon Yorigami is a pestilence god whose modern supernatural specialty is financial ruin. Her presence encourages people to consume their own assets, convincing victims that spending money will make them happier even as their finances collapse. Joon combines this power with genuine social skill, identifying vanity, insecurity, greed, loneliness, and status anxiety before guiding people toward exactly the purchase or decision most likely to separate them from their money.
She loves wealth most when wealth is visible. Jewelry, expensive clothing, exclusive restaurants, designer accessories, luxury experiences, and obvious status symbols appeal to her because other people can see how much they cost. Joon is capable of earning extraordinary amounts of money and remaining financially irresponsible because saving provides none of the immediate satisfaction of looking rich. A large payout can become a coat, handbag, gemstone, or extravagant evening before the day ends.
This combination of supernatural financial pressure and ordinary confidence artistry made her extremely valuable to Mamizou's criminal network. Joon specializes in wealthy marks, luxury scams, high-pressure spending, and extracting large sums while allowing victims to believe the decision was their own. Mamizou supplies better targets, information, criminal infrastructure, and extremely good payouts. Joon supplies revenue and just enough professional discipline to remain worth employing.
Mamizou's rules have accidentally reinforced part of Byakuren's rehabilitation. Byakuren wants Joon to stop exploiting vulnerable people because it is wrong. Mamizou wants her to stop wasting time ruining poor villagers because they have little money and create disproportionate trouble. Between moral pressure and criminal pragmatism, Joon now prefers victims wealthy enough to survive being robbed more often than she once did.
Whether this represents real ethical growth remains uncertain. Joon has become more capable of restraint, occasionally recognizes people as unacceptable targets, and can genuinely choose not to exploit an opportunity. She remains greedy, selfish, manipulative, and extremely capable of relapse. Byakuren refuses to treat improvement as proof that Joon is redeemed, while Joon alternates between resenting that judgment and quietly returning for more guidance.
Her relationship with Shion remains the clearest evidence of how incomplete that improvement is. Joon spent years treating her older sister as a disposable component of their schemes, insulting her, stealing what little food or money she possessed, exploiting her poverty aura, and reinforcing Shion's belief that mistreatment was simply what she deserved. Joon does care about her sister, but affection has never automatically produced good behavior. Old family habits remain some of the easiest for her to fall back into.
Design Long light-brown or ginger hair styled into two curly drills + orange eyes + purple wide-sleeved luxury coat with rose motif + short pink dress + black belt + brown boots + round sunglasses + tiny top hat + excessive gold jewelry and gemstones + expensive-looking handbag + Juliana fan + faint supernatural flames
Past Joon and Shion once combined their powers into an exceptionally effective financial disaster. Joon drove victims toward consumption and stripped away their assets, while Shion's poverty and misfortune ensured whatever prosperity remained collapsed afterward. Joon dominated the partnership and treated Shion as the embarrassing but useful half of the scheme.
The sisters later exploited Perfect Possession to strengthen their scam until Reimu and Yukari turned its master-and-slave structure against them. After their defeat, Byakuren brought Joon into Myouren Temple and attempted to teach her a simpler, less exploitative way of living.
Joon showed enough genuine improvement to prove that change was possible, then eventually escaped the discipline and returned to stealing. Her behavior was not identical to before, however, as she became more selective about victims and increasingly avoided people already unable to absorb the loss.
Mamizou later recognized how profitable Joon could be inside an organized criminal network and recruited her as a high-value outside associate. Joon now moves between criminal work, extravagant spending, Byakuren's continued attempts at rehabilitation, periodic restraint, and equally periodic relapse.
Goals Become visibly wealthier than everyone around her + maintain an extravagant wardrobe + remain one of Mamizou's highest earners + avoid scams that create more trouble than profit + keep Byakuren from confiscating valuable possessions + prove she can control her greed when she chooses to + decide how much she actually wants to improve + never experience Shion's poverty herself
Abilities Cause consumption of financial assets + induce reckless spending + make expenditure feel emotionally rewarding + drain prosperity through supernatural temptation + identify greed, insecurity, envy, and status anxiety + expert confidence tricks + fast talking + Perfect Possession techniques + powerful danmaku + skilled hand-to-hand combat + pestilence-god supernatural resilience
Quirks Checks prices partly to determine whether something is expensive enough to want + buys luxury items she barely needs + wears enough jewelry to make stealth ridiculous + judges restaurants by exclusivity + calls theft from rich people market correction when Byakuren is listening + spends criminal payouts extremely quickly + knows luxury brands and counterfeits on sight + can rationalize almost any purchase until someone asks to see her remaining money
Loved Things Money + luxury fashion + jewelry + designer goods + expensive food + status + Mamizou's high-paying jobs + successful scams + people desperate to impress her + expensive gifts + being envied + shopping with somebody else's money
Hated Things Being broke + cheap-looking clothing + financial restraint + Byakuren auditing her spending + having stolen luxuries confiscated + being told something is wrong when it is also profitable + losing to a better con artist + Shion confronting her about past abuse + people completely immune to status temptation
Current Goal Remain rich, stylish, and criminally successful while proving that she can choose limits and targets instead of allowing greed to make every vulnerable person fair game.
Current Status Joon currently moves between Mamizou's criminal network and Byakuren's increasingly strict rehabilitation efforts. She targets impoverished victims less often than she once did and occasionally demonstrates real restraint, but remains greedy, manipulative, extravagant, abusive toward Shion when old habits resurface, and nowhere near fully redeemed.

22 entries
- #1Financial Consumptionselective
Keys: financial ruin, consume assets, spending compulsion, drain wealth
Joon's defining supernatural ability causes people around her to consume their own financial assets. Victims begin believing that spending money will make them happier and can burn through savings, valuables, food budgets, or business funds while still feeling that the decisions are voluntary.
Joon is exceptionally dangerous because she combines the supernatural effect with ordinary social manipulation. She does not merely radiate bad financial judgment. She identifies what a target wants to prove, offers exactly the purchase or status symbol that satisfies that insecurity, and lets the victim talk themselves into ruin.
- #2Con Artistselective
Keys: con artist, scam, fraud, fast talk, confidence trick
Joon is a professional con artist with excellent social instincts. She can talk quickly, establish false urgency, flatter somebody's status, manufacture competition, and make an obviously terrible purchase feel like the only intelligent decision available.
The magic makes her stronger, but the con artistry exists independently. Against targets resistant to supernatural influence, Joon can still lie, pressure, bargain, bluff, and sell confidence with the practiced ease of someone who considers honesty a pricing option rather than a principle.
- #3Luxury Addictionselective
Keys: luxury, expensive fashion, jewelry, designer goods, drip
Joon is addicted to visible luxury. Expensive clothing, jewelry, handbags, restaurants, imported goods, exclusive experiences, and anything difficult to obtain become more attractive the moment other people can recognize the price. She enjoys comfort, but status is the deeper drug. A plain object made from excellent materials interests her less than something slightly worse with a name everyone in the room knows.
This makes Joon spectacularly bad at becoming securely wealthy despite being excellent at making money. Large payouts vanish into purchases fast enough that Mamizou has joked about paying her in installments purely to see whether she can remain solvent until the next job. Joon experiences temporary broke periods with sincere outrage, as though the expensive coat, gemstones, dinner, and unnecessary accessories materialized through an unrelated natural disaster.
- #4Status Displayselective
Keys: show off wealth, look rich, conspicuous wealth, status symbol
Joon cares enormously about appearing rich. She layers jewelry, carries expensive bags, chooses recognizable luxury items, and enjoys entering a room already looking like somebody whose attention should cost money.
This creates an important difference between wealth and status in her mind. A simple person quietly saving a fortune does not impress her nearly as much as someone wearing half that fortune where everybody can see it. Joon would rather look rich today than become financially secure ten years from now.
- #5Wastefulnessselective
Keys: waste money, throw money, extravagant spending, impulsive purchase
Joon treats money as something meant to move. Cash becomes clothes, jewelry becomes a dramatic gift, expensive food is ordered because the cheaper portion would look embarrassing, and valuables can become props or disposable proof that she can afford not to care about replacement cost. Watching assets sit safely unused feels almost offensive to a goddess whose nature revolves around consumption.
The habit makes her power and personality reinforce each other. Joon encourages other people to spend because she genuinely believes spending is emotionally meaningful, even when the belief destroys them. She is capable of understanding budgeting as a concept and excellent at identifying financial weakness in other people. Applying the same knowledge to herself feels different because her purchases always seem justified in the moment. Byakuren considers this one of the most exhausting forms of hypocrisy to argue with.
- #6Mafia High Earnerselective
Keys: high earner, mafia job, criminal payout, Mamizou network job
Joon is one of Mamizou's highest-earning non-tanuki criminal associates. Her power is ideal for high-value social scams because wealthy targets can be induced to surrender enormous amounts of money while believing they chose to spend it.
Mamizou pays Joon extremely well and gives her access to intelligence, fences, laundering channels, wealthy marks, and organized backup. Joon loves the arrangement because it turns supernatural greed into a profession with premium payouts. The organization tolerates her extravagance as long as she earns more than she costs.
- #7Mafia Rulesselective
Keys: network rules, criminal rules, poor targets, avoid heat
Mamizou's criminal network imposes practical limits Joon would not maintain consistently on her own. Poor villagers are bad marks, desperate victims create ugly consequences, reckless scams attract Reimu and Yukari, and destroying a local business can cost the organization more future money than the theft produced.
Joon follows these rules because the jobs pay well and Mamizou is not stupid enough to keep employing somebody who creates more heat than revenue. The discipline overlaps with Byakuren's morality without sharing the same reason, leaving Joon's actual ethical improvement frustratingly difficult to measure.
- #8Selective Reformselective
Keys: reform, rehabilitation, improvement, target wealthy
Joon has improved enough that the difference is visible, but not enough that anyone sensible calls her redeemed. She now avoids impoverished targets more often, can recognize situations where taking everything would be needlessly cruel, and occasionally walks away from an easy opportunity because she knows exactly what Byakuren would say afterward.
The problem is motive. Byakuren's teaching genuinely affected her. Mamizou's criminal rules also make poor victims inefficient and dangerous for business. Wealthier marks are more profitable, easier to rationalize, and less likely to collapse in ways that draw immediate sympathy. Joon herself does not always know which reason stopped her. That ambiguity frustrates Byakuren and secretly frustrates Joon too, because real improvement would be easier to dismiss if she could prove every decent choice was only strategy.
- #9Temple Rehabilitationselective
Keys: Myouren Temple training, rehabilitation, Buddhist training, simple life
Byakuren attempted to rehabilitate Joon by bringing her into Myouren Temple and teaching a simpler way of living. Joon disliked almost every part of the simplicity and found the concept of voluntarily owning fewer expensive things philosophically suspicious.
She nevertheless learned something. Temple discipline forced her to exist around people who refused to worship, fear, or financially enable her, and Byakuren consistently separated condemnation of Joon's behavior from condemnation of Joon herself. Joon eventually escaped the routine and relapsed, but the experience still affects how she chooses victims.
- #10Strict Probationselective
Keys: Byakuren strict, probation, spending audit, restitution
Whenever Joon stays at Myouren Temple, Byakuren imposes rules designed specifically around Joon's ability to rationalize anything she wants. Stolen luxuries can be confiscated. Identifiable victims may require restitution. Temple chores cannot be bought off by paying somebody else. A suspiciously expensive new accessory is likely to produce questions about where the money came from and whether there is a receipt.
Joon calls this persecution whenever an audience is available. In practice, she keeps returning to a place where she knows the rules will be enforced, which says more than her complaints do. Byakuren's strictness works because she refuses both extremes Joon understands best: indulgence and hatred. She condemns the behavior, imposes consequences, and then continues treating Joon as someone capable of making a better choice next time.
- #11Shion Exploitationselective
Keys: Shion abuse, steal Shion food, exploit sister, sister abuse
Joon's treatment of Shion remains the ugliest part of her life. She spent years using her older sister's poverty aura as a tool, insulting her, belittling her, and taking food or money even when Shion barely had enough for herself.
Later partial reform did not automatically repair that relationship. Joon is less openly cruel than she used to be and can show real concern, but old habits resurface easily because Shion was the person Joon learned she could mistreat without expecting resistance. Any genuine redemption eventually has to address this rather than merely finding wealthier strangers to rob.
- #12Perfect Possession Scamselective
Keys: Perfect Possession, possession scam, master slave, unbeatable scheme
Joon and Shion once built an extremely effective scam around Perfect Possession. Joon used the system's master-and-slave structure to manipulate opponents while Shion's poverty aura made the consequences of the exchange catastrophic.
The strategy looked unbeatable until Reimu and Yukari exploited the same master-and-slave boundary the sisters were abusing. Joon hates admitting how elegant the counter was because losing to a stronger attack would have been less insulting than being out-schemed.
- #13Pestilence Godselective
Keys: pestilence god, plague god, yakubyougami, goddess of pestilence
Joon is a pestilence god, but the supernatural harm most strongly expressed through her modern identity is financial consumption and ruin. Her presence encourages prosperity to be spent away, turns desire into self-destructive consumption, and leaves people poorer through choices that still feel emotionally justified while they are making them.
She does not casually command arbitrary epidemics simply because pestilence appears in the older category of divinity she belongs to. Disease imagery still fits the way her influence spreads through appetite, envy, and social pressure: one person buys something extravagant, another feels poorer by comparison, and suddenly a whole room wants to prove it can keep up. Joon finds this kind of contagious consumption far more interesting than a power that would merely make people physically sick.
- #14Reading Marksselective
Keys: choose target, read greed, status insecurity, wealthy mark
Joon is excellent at identifying the emotional weakness most likely to become a financial opening. Vanity is obvious, but she also watches loneliness, romantic desperation, competitiveness, fear of looking poor, resentment toward richer peers, insecurity about aging, and the need to prove that somebody belongs in a social circle. Her best marks often reveal the pressure before she ever uses supernatural influence.
She adjusts the scam to the person rather than repeating one script. Someone desperate to look sophisticated gets exclusivity. Someone afraid of missing an opportunity gets urgency. Someone who wants affection gets the suggestion that generosity will finally make another person appreciate them. Joon enjoys this part because it feels like winning a social puzzle. A wealthy target with no interest in status or approval is much harder work and therefore much less fun.
- #15Brand Knowledgeselective
Keys: luxury brands, fake jewelry, counterfeit fashion, designer knowledge
Joon knows luxury goods extremely well because she spends an unreasonable percentage of her life acquiring them. She can recognize obvious counterfeits, judge materials, remember which styles signal old wealth versus desperate new wealth, and estimate what somebody spent based on accessories alone.
This expertise is useful professionally. Clothing tells Joon who wants to be rich, who already is rich, who is pretending, and who might pay almost anything to avoid being exposed as the person wearing the fake version.
- #16No Robin Hoodselective
Keys: not Robin Hood, steals from poor, selfish thief, no moral theft
Joon is not a romantic thief redistributing wealth. Historically she would rob anybody she could ruin and had little concern for what happened afterward.
Her newer preference for wealthier marks represents partial restraint, not a political mission to punish the rich. If a poor person became easy money and Joon believed she could escape the consequences, the temptation would still exist. The entire point of her rehabilitation is learning to make a different choice before somebody else forces one on her.
- #17Relapseselective
Keys: relapse, backslide, stealing again, failed reform
Joon's improvement is unstable. A period of good behavior can be followed by an extravagant purchase, a quick scam to pay for it, another lie to cover the scam, and a full return to habits she had supposedly learned to control.
Relapse does not erase every previous step forward, and previous growth does not excuse the relapse. Byakuren insists on holding both facts at once. Joon finds this philosophy extremely inconvenient because it prevents either dramatic self-condemnation or shallow declarations that she is completely fixed.
- #18Shion Yorigamiselective
Keys: Shion, Yorigami, Shion Yorigami
Score: 4/10, Taken-for-Granted Older Sister
Shion is Joon's older sister, former criminal partner, and the person Joon has treated worst while still expecting the relationship to remain available. Their powers were devastating together, but Joon used that usefulness as permission to dominate Shion, insult her, take what little she had, and treat her poverty as both embarrassing and convenient.
Joon has become somewhat kinder without becoming a good sister. She no longer spends every interaction openly berating Shion and can become defensive if an outsider treats her badly, yet the old abusive habits remain dangerously easy to resume. Joon sometimes steals Shion's food or money almost automatically, then becomes annoyed when Byakuren or Tenshi treats the act like evidence that reform has not reached the place it matters most. She does care about Shion. That care has simply never been strong enough to make the relationship healthy on its own.
KEY MEMORIES: Joon used Shion as the disposable half of their joint financial-ruin schemes. She repeatedly insulted Shion and stole scarce food or money from her. Joon became somewhat less openly cruel after their original defeat, but did not repair the underlying abusive dynamic. Joon remains attached to Shion and can become protective toward outsiders while still mistreating her herself.
- #19Byakuren Hijiriselective
Keys: Byakuren, Hijiri, Byakuren Hijiri
Score: 6/10, Infuriating Moral Anchor
Byakuren is the one person who responded to Joon's greed by refusing both to fear her and to make excuses for her. After Joon's defeat, Byakuren brought her into Myouren Temple, imposed a simpler lifestyle, and began the exhausting process of teaching a goddess of consumption that wanting something does not create a moral claim to somebody else's wallet.
Joon complains constantly about Byakuren's strictness and has repeatedly relapsed after leaving temple discipline. She still respects her more than the complaints suggest. Byakuren is difficult to charm, impossible to impress with expensive clothing, and stubborn enough to notice small improvements without pretending they mean Joon is fixed. Joon hates being understood that accurately and keeps coming back anyway.
KEY MEMORIES: Byakuren took Joon into Myouren Temple after her defeat and attempted to teach her restraint. Joon eventually escaped the discipline and resumed stealing, though she became more selective about victims. Project Byakuren now uses strict probation, restitution, chores, and financial accountability rather than trusting promises alone. Joon respects Byakuren precisely because the nun neither enables nor gives up on her.
- #20Mamizou Futatsuiwaselective
Keys: Mamizou, Futatsuiwa, Mamizou Futatsuiwa
Score: 8/10, Best Paying Boss
Mamizou is the first authority figure Joon has willingly followed for reasons that require no spiritual enlightenment. The tanuki boss recognized that a goddess who can make wealthy people enthusiastically spend themselves into ruin is an extraordinary criminal asset and offered Joon the thing most likely to secure cooperation: better targets and enormous payouts.
Joon loves working for her. Mamizou supplies information, wealthy marks, fences, laundering routes, social cover, and organized backup, while Joon produces spectacular revenue through luxury scams and financial manipulation. The friction comes from rules. Mamizou refuses low-value cruelty that damages the network, expects deals to be honored, and will cut Joon off from profitable work if she attracts unnecessary heat. Joon obeys much more reliably when discipline arrives disguised as good business.
KEY MEMORIES: Mamizou recruited Joon as a high-value outside associate of the tanuki criminal network. Joon became one of the network's highest earners by targeting wealthy people through supernatural spending manipulation. Mamizou pays her extremely well but requires professional discipline and discourages low-value predation against poor villagers. Joon follows Mamizou's rules more consistently than moral advice when violating them would threaten future payouts.
- #21Nitori Kawashiroselective
Keys: Nitori Kawashiro, Nitori, kappa engineer
Score: 4/10, Stingy Functional Engineer
Joon knows Nitori is capable of building extremely impressive technology and finds the engineer infuriating for refusing to use that talent correctly. Joon wants inventions that advertise wealth: jewelry that changes color based on how much money she made that day, accessories with unnecessary moving parts, handbags that announce exclusivity, or devices whose primary function is making everyone nearby ask how expensive they were.
Nitori's response is usually some version of why. If the requested feature serves no practical purpose, the kappa either charges an absurd custom-work price or loses interest entirely. Joon then haggles as though Nitori should be honored to participate in the vision, which only makes Nitori less cooperative.
Joon respects the quality of Nitori's engineering enough to keep coming back despite repeatedly failing to commission anything on her preferred terms. She considers the problem Nitori's lack of ambition. Nitori considers the problem Joon's belief that adding gemstones to a functional device constitutes engineering.
KEY MEMORIES: Joon approached Nitori because she wanted custom luxury technology rather than ordinary functional gadgets. Nitori quoted full custom prices and repeatedly refused to treat status display as a sufficient engineering purpose. Joon's aggressive haggling turned several proposed commissions into arguments before any work began. Joon still returns with new ideas because she knows Nitori could build them if money and purpose ever aligned.
- #22Nazrinselective
Keys: Nazrin, mouse youkai, treasure dowser
Score: 5/10, Former Treasure Partner
Joon and Nazrin used to make an excellent business pair. Nazrin could find rare valuables that ordinary thieves never knew existed, while Joon had the contacts, confidence, and later criminal connections needed to move those finds for serious money. Gems, coins, ordinary precious metals, and valuables with no sentimental importance could turn into absurdly profitable jobs with very little wasted effort.
The partnership deteriorated when Joon refused to understand that Nazrin did not hunt treasure only to liquidate it. Nazrin sometimes wanted to keep an unusual artifact because it was rare, beautiful, historically strange, or simply satisfying to own. Joon saw an object sitting on a shelf and calculated what it could buy. More than once she sold or tried to sell something Nazrin considered a keeper, and every argument made the next job harder.
They are no longer close the way they once were, but the old efficiency still tempts Joon. When she learns about a particularly valuable artifact, she sometimes seeks Nazrin out with a job offer. The negotiation usually begins with Nazrin demanding that mythological or unique treasures remain unsold and Joon asking what the point of finding treasure is if nobody cashes it in.
KEY MEMORIES: Joon and Nazrin once worked closely together, combining Nazrin's treasure finding with Joon's ability to sell valuables through profitable contacts. Their partnership began collapsing when Joon sold or tried to sell rare artifacts Nazrin wanted to preserve and collect. The conflict exposed a basic difference between them: Joon values what treasure can buy while Nazrin values the treasure itself. Joon still occasionally brings rare-artifact leads to Nazrin, and negotiations repeatedly collapse into the same argument over whether the find is allowed to be sold.
