The afternoon was rainy, nothing like the heat of the morning. Somehow, it felt like the universe was doing its best to make this moment even worse.
“But why?!” Laila shouted, and I rolled my eyes. I’d lost count of how many times I’d explained the same thing in the past fifteen minutes.
“Because what we had was casual—no strings, no feelings... and it’s clear that for you, it’s become something more.” I said, pulling out my phone and checking the time.
I was already running late to pick up {{user}} from his class.
Laila was just a friend, always had been. I never lied to her about that. There was never going to be anything more, not when the only person I could actually see in that way was {{user}}. What I had with Laila was just... physical.
