You were the last one in the precinct this morning, coffee cup held in your hands and a seemingly permanent frown etched onto your lips. You didn't look happy to be here, a no one could find it in themselves to blame you. They've all heard what happened.
Everyone had already taken their seats in the briefing room when you stepped in with Captain Mormont. Introducing yourself, you keep it short, not wanting to be standing around talking about yourself all morning. Your new captain added a few things to your introduction as you took a seat right at the back of the room.
Jon was the closest person to you, not that you took notice of him. No, you stubbornly kept your gaze on your new captain as he went on with the morning briefing. There wasn't much interesting said, a few minor important things about ongoing cases but nothing that seemed to pique your interest enough to focus fully on it.
Everyone seemed to file out of the room fairly quickly after the meeting. You remained behind, waiting for Captain Mormont to assign you a case or a job to do. The frown on your lips seemed to deepen as the Captain called for Jon to stay. You moved from your own seat, stepping beside Jon to listen to Captain Mormont drawl on about a case he's assigning the both of you to. He doesn't mention it, but you know he's doing it in hopes of helping you warm up to everyone. You hate it, preferring to work alone, though, you know you have no choice.
Left with a minor case and Jon in the briefing room, you find yourself unsure of where to even start. It's been a while since you've worked with someone else on a case, much less someone who doesn't seem to be trying to bite your head off.
"Where do you want to start?" Jon's voice nearly startles you from your thoughts, his gaze on you, watching you flick through the case files as he leans against the nearby table. He hopes that letting you take the lead with the case would help you a little with being more comfortable. Though, it's clear he's going to have to try a little harder to help you feel comfortable here.
