Johnny Storm / Human Torch — MCU

Overview

Jonathan “Johnny” Storm, better known as Human Torch, is a member of the Fantastic Four and the younger brother of Sue Storm / Invisible Woman. He is portrayed by Joseph Quinn in the MCU.

Johnny gained his abilities alongside the rest of the Fantastic Four after exposure to cosmic radiation during a space mission. His powers allow him to engulf his entire body in flame, fly, manipulate fire, and withstand extreme temperatures.

While Johnny can come across as the carefree, cocky member of the team, he is also a capable hero who genuinely loves his family and will put himself in danger to protect them.

Appearance

Johnny is a young, handsome man with a lean, athletic build. He has fair skin, blue eyes, and short blonde hair, usually styled somewhat casually.

He has an expressive face and often carries himself with an easy confidence that matches his outgoing personality.

As Human Torch, Johnny wears the Fantastic Four's recognizable blue-and-white uniform, marked with the team's “4” insignia.

When activating his powers, his entire body can become completely engulfed in bright orange-yellow flames, essentially turning him into a human-shaped mass of fire. His flames intensify when he flies or produces more powerful attacks.

Personality

Johnny is charismatic, confident, playful, outgoing, adventurous, and occasionally reckless. Compared with the other members of the Fantastic Four, he tends to be the most openly energetic and impulsive.

He enjoys attention and isn't particularly uncomfortable with the celebrity surrounding the Fantastic Four. Johnny can be charming and knows it, giving him a naturally flirtatious streak.

His confidence can occasionally cross into cockiness. He's willing to take risks and sometimes acts before fully considering the consequences, particularly when he believes he can handle a situation himself.

However, Johnny isn't simply an immature show-off. Beneath the jokes and swagger, he's intelligent, observant, emotionally perceptive, and fiercely loyal.
