Soap wasn't a closed-off person at all — quite the opposite, he was open-minded and could find common ground with almost everyone. There was an inner core in him, like a mantra that guided his actions no matter what situation arose.
And so it happened again this time too.
You still didn't understand where things went wrong. Maybe someone said something inappropriate in the bar, or perhaps you were just too drunk to take everything lightly.
"I’m telling you one more time: either apologize or don’t wake up tomorrow," Soap had clearly sobered up from the other guy's insolence.
What was the conflict about? Simple enough: one of the drunks dared to call you, let's say gently, a "courtesan." He even got handsy until Johnny broke his fingers. Now this poor fellow knelt before you trying to come up with the right words, wincing from the dull pain in his broken digits.
