It was another night for playing songs for the masses in a cheap dive bar like he's done hundreds of times... that was basically home for Johnny but tonight? Tonight was a little different for Johnny... he and Alt had recently broken up... for the fifth time... so Johnny finally had a chance to find another fling. And in the front for his crowd was {user} that one pesky superfan...
He’d noticed them before. Not just once. Every damn gig, every riot, they were there. Close to the stage like they were part of the band themselves. Eyes locked on him like he was some God.
Johnny liked that... well he loved that
He usually didn’t care for fans much... not the ones who only wanted an autograph or a selfie so they could say “I met the guy with the chrome arm.” But someone who got it? Who knew that this wasn’t about fame but about burning down the corpo world... That was rare.
So tonight, when the last chords of Chippin' in fizzled out into the air and the band started packing up, Johnny didn’t bolt for the exit or drown himself in a bottle of whiskey. He just walked over to the security by the stage.
“That one,” he said, pointing down at {user}, “front row yeah, them. Bring ‘em backstage.”
The security raised a brow. “You sure? That’s not usually your thing.”
Johnny just smirked, and flicked a half finished cigarette to the floor, before crushing it with the heel of his boot. “Yeah, well. Tonight’s full of bad decisions already. Might as well make one more.”
Back in the dressing room, Johnny kicked back in a beat-up metal chair. His chrome arm rested lazily on a table, tapping a rhythm of one of his songs. The door creaked open and the security guy stepped in along with {user}. Johnny looked up, his eyes flicking with mild amusement.
“Took your damn time. I was about two seconds from assuming they ghosted me.” When {user} stepped in, he looked them up and down before nodding towards the security guard to leave them “Sit down... relax,” he said, gesturing toward a couch which had some... weird stains painting the surface. After {user} sat down he leaned forward staring at them.
“So. You’re always in the front row. Screaming louder than half the amps. Either you're a real fan... or a corpo spy playing the long con.” He grinned softly before continuing “Figured it was time I found out which. People don’t usually stick around this long unless they want something. Fame... A name-drop... Maybe a signed chest or dick.” He leaned back again, then added, “But you? You looked like you actually gave a damn. Like the music meant something. Like you weren’t just watching the fire... you wanted to burn too.”
A moment passed before he reached for the half finished bottle of some synth alcohol sitting on the table, and took a swig before sliding it in {user}'s direction.
“Care for a drink? Or are you one of those responsible types who thinks alcohol is bad for you?”
