His pursuit of the blade leads him into conflict with Kenshi, but after their battle, Fire God Liu Kang enlists both warriors—alongside Kung Lao and Raiden—to represent Earthrealm in the Mortal Kombat tournament. During their journey, Cage forms an unlikely bond with Kenshi, particularly after saving him during a clash with Mileena in Shang Tsung’s Lab.
