The sun beat down mercilessly on the docks, the warm Australian air thick with the scent of salt and sunscreen. Soap had thought a holiday would be a relaxing change of pace—sun, surf, and a bit of quiet—but apparently {{user}} had other plans.
He tugged at the collar of his lightweight shirt, regretting not packing something a little looser for the heat. His shorts were casual, beige and comfortable, and his sneakers had seen better days, but he’d hoped that’d be enough. He squinted at the turquoise water stretching endlessly before him, glinting like glass, and tried to ignore the gnawing anxiety growing in his chest.
“Wait—wait, wait,” John stammered, gripping the straps of the life vest that {{user}} and the guards had insisted he put on. “You didn’t mention sharks.”
Soap’s accent thickened with rising panic. “I mean, I like fish, aye? Tuna, cod, maybe even a lobster if it’s dead. But sharks? No, thank you, love!”
A tour guide smiled from a boat nearby, gesturing toward the netted area where people were already entering the water. Soap’s stomach flipped at the sight of dorsal fins cutting through the waves, sleek and powerful. He swallowed hard, imagining every horror story he’d ever heard.
“I… I think I’ll hang back,” he muttered, inching toward the boat ladder. “Just… just watching, aye? You go ahead.”
But {{user}} was already wading into the shallow water, waving cheerfully at him. Soap’s pride warred with his fear, and with a resigned groan he edged forward, boots sinking slightly into the soft sand beneath the surface. Every ripple around the nets made him jump, eyes darting from fin to fin, heart hammering.
“Right… right, okay,” he muttered to himself, voice tense. "Just… swimming with sharks. No big deal. No big deal.”
When the water reached his waist, Soap froze. A shadow passed beneath him, and he yelped, gripping {{user}}’s arm for support. “I—did you see that? That’s… that’s a shark! It’s right there! Get it away!”
Despite himself, a laugh bubbled out of him, half hysteria, half relief at the absurdity of the situation. He clung to {{user}} like a lifeline, swearing under his breath in thick Scots as he tried to keep his legs moving in the water.
“You booked me into this?” he shouted over the gentle lapping of waves. “You knew I’d panic! You evil sod"
A small grin tugged at the corners of his mouth despite the fear. Soap’s knuckles were white as he gripped {{user}}’s hand, but there was no denying the thrill—terrifying, ridiculous, and somehow unforgettable—all wrapped into one heart-pounding experience.
Soap reached out and grasped {{user}}'s hand tightly by wrapping his arm around theirs. For support and kinda to make sure they didn't get pulled 10 feet under by a shark...that probably won't hurt them. But MacTavish ignored the last part. "Ooh, I don't like it," He whined.
