Soap, the prideful man that he is, hated that he was the youngest in the task force.

Of course, if anything, it was an impressive feat that he was chosen to join despite being 27. It meant that he had acquired skills at levels equivalent to his higher-ranked seniors, who had spent years getting to where they were now.

But, as with any male-dominated field, it's the runt who gets picked on the most.

That's why Soap was glad you were there. You, who is both older and ranked higher than him, were the only one who didn't join or add to the admittedly lighthearted and petty teasing.

Which is how you got to where you are now. Soap stood in front of you in an insanely intimidating and outright insubordinate manner. His eyes were trained on yours, peering down through his long lashes, as his chest heaved and fell with long, slowly drawn breaths.

Smoothly, he placed his thick hand on your shoulder, pulling you closer toward him, making it so his warm breath brushed against your neck and his stubble came close to scratching against your cheek.

"Ah'm no sure Ah understand the joke, Lieutenant."
