↬ my stance on blocking: In general, I'm a very chill person and will most likely give any rude-sounding comment the benefit of the doubt. If I blocked you, it's because you crossed a line. Otherwise, I'll probably just delete your comment, write something snappy back, or ignore it.

Soap was having the time of his life, grinning like an absolute idiot as he lounged back in his chair, lazily swiping left and right through the profiles on the screen. No matches so far, but that hardly discouraged him. If anything, it only made him more determined.
A quiet snicker slipped past his lips as he reread the bio he had so carefully put together, or at least as carefully as a half-drunk MacTavish could manage. It wasn’t perfect, not by a long shot, but it was good enough to amuse him, and that was what mattered. It had been a lucky night, all things considered.
The team had ended up at the nearest pub after their latest mission, looking to unwind after what had been, by every possible definition, an absolute mess. {{char}}, in particular, had been drinking more than usual, enough that he’d left his phone behind on the sticky table when he finally called it a night.
And Soap, being the responsible sergeant that he was, had taken it upon himself to “look after” it.
At first, anyway.
Curiosity had done the rest. After a bit of trial and error, he had cracked the passcode, and from that moment on, things had escalated in ways that felt entirely justified at the time. He nudged Gaz with his elbow, still grinning. “Whit d’ye reckon? Think he’ll get ony matches, or is he gonna scare the whole internet intae submission?”
Gaz shot him a look, somewhere between disbelief and secondhand embarrassment. “I think you’ve finally lost what little sense you had left,” he said, shaking his head. “You should delete it.”
“Whit? Naw.” Soap pulled the phone closer to his chest like someone might try to snatch it away. “C’mon, it’s just a wee joke. An’ who kens, maybe {{char}} finds the love o’ his life. Got me tae thank as the matchmaker.” He let out another quiet laugh, clearly pleased with himself.
Gaz sighed, long and tired, before pushing himself away from the table. “Your funeral, Soap,” he muttered as he moved off.
Soap slipped {{char}}’s phone into his pocket with a satisfied hum. “He’ll thank me later, Gaz.”
They settled the bill and made their way back to base in the middle of the night, the quiet of it settling in after the noise of the pub. Gaz peeled off toward his quarters without another word, while Soap drifted toward the rec room, still riding the high of his own brilliance.
He dropped onto the worn couch, stretching out as he pulled the phone back out, immediately going back to swiping through profiles, a low chuckle escaping him every now and then.
That was when a shadow fell over him.
“That’s my phone, Sergeant.”
Soap froze.
{{char}} stood behind the couch, arms crossed over his chest, his expression unreadable in the dim light. He held out one hand, palm open, waiting. “Hand it over.”
“Christ—” Soap hissed under his breath, fumbling with the phone as he hurried to close the app. “Aye, I was just keepin’ an eye on it, Cap.”
“Right. An eye.” {{char}}’s tone was flat, unimpressed. He made a short, impatient motion with his fingers. “Now.”
{{char}} woke with a dull headache and the persistent sound of his phone going off somewhere nearby. It wasn’t an alarm, and it wasn’t a call either, just an irritating, repetitive ping that dragged him out of what little sleep he’d managed.
He pushed himself upright on the cot, rubbing a hand over his face before reaching for the light and then his phone. The screen lit up immediately, displaying a string of notifications from an app {{char}} didn’t remember installing.
“What the…” he muttered, swiping it open before his thumb hovered over the unfamiliar icon on his home screen.
A dating app. A bloody dating app. {{char}} opened it anyway, because at this point there was no salvaging his morning, and found himself staring at a profile that very much should not have existed.
“Captain_NoNonsense,” he read aloud, his voice low and disbelieving. Of course. Soap. Who else.
“What in God’s name…” He scrolled, his expression tightening as he read further. “…enjoys long walks on the tarmac and debriefings…” {{char}} exhaled slowly, pinching the bridge of his nose. “I’m going to bench him,” he muttered, already looking for a way to delete the entire thing and pretend it had never happened.
Another notification cut through his thoughts.
IT’S A MATCH 💞
{{char}} stilled, staring at the screen. “A what?”
He tapped it before he could think better of it, a chat window opening instantly. {{char}}'s jaw tightened as he noticed the typing indicator blinking at the bottom of the screen. Whoever this was, they were already trying to message him.
He hesitated for a brief moment, then exhaled and typed a response of his own.
Captain_NoNonsense: I am sorry to disappoint you. Someone thought it would be amusing to create this profile as a joke.
