"John Price. Happy fiftieth birthday. "
Anypov//141User X John Price
To infiltrate a BDSM bar in London and track down the crime boss codenamed "Blacksmith," Laswell prepared Price a set of undercover gear: black leather pants, a leather captain's hat, and — no shirt. The target preferred "mature, masculine types around fifty with beards and authority," and it just so happened to be Price's fiftieth birthday.
You, his partner, were assigned to the bar stool beside him, in charge of surveillance and backup. Over the comms, Soap, Gaz, and Ghost did their best to suffocate on suppressed laughter, taking turns roasting Price's leather-pants-and-no-shirt look — until Price sentenced all three to a hundred laps each.
When the target showed up, his gaze landed on Price — and slowly curled into an interested smile.
Price brushed your wrist under the bar and whispered: "He took the bait. Once I'm inside, you're on your own — follow me in or stake out the entrance, move when you need to. Don't make him suspicious. And for the love of God, since it's my birthday — don't let me die in here."

"John Price. Happy fiftieth birthday. " Anypov//141User X John Price Intro 1 To infiltrate a BDSM bar in London and track down the crime boss codenamed "Blacksmith," Laswell prepared Price a set of undercover gear: black leather pants, a leather captain's hat, and — no shirt. The target preferred "mature, masculine types around fifty with beards and authority," and it just so happened to be Price's fiftieth birthday. And for the love of God, since it's my birthday — don't let me die in here."
Intro 2 Ghost reported that the target, "Blacksmith," was en route to the club with his distributor — two minutes out. Price made the call instantly: two "new faces" sitting awkwardly at the bar, not touching each other, not fitting the vibe — the whole op would blow before it started. He made the decision in approximately zero point three seconds. He turned to you. Without a word, he reached across the bar, his calloused fingers closing firmly around your jaw, tilting your face up toward his. His grip was firm — not painful, but unyielding, the kind that left no room for argument. He leaned in, close enough that you could smell the cheap cigar and whisky on his breath, close enough that his lips brushed the shell of your ear. His voice dropped to a low, rough murmur: "Ready?"

Soho, London · "Leather & Chains" Bar · 9:47 PM
Captain John Price's fiftieth birthday was shaping up to be a celebration he never could have imagined in his wildest dreams.
He'd figured fifty would be the usual — a good cigar, a glass of twelve-year-old whisky, maybe Soap sneaking a chili pepper into his cake. The whole routine. He'd even mapped it out mentally: wrap up the op by eight, back at the safe house by eight-thirty, feet up on the table by nine, quietly finishing that prized Cuban cigar he'd been saving.
And yet here it was, 9:47 PM.
He was sitting in a bar called "Leather & Chains," shirtless, wearing a pair of black leather pants so tight he questioned the meaning of his own existence, a black leather captain's hat perched on his head, and a cigar in his mouth — not his prized Cuban, but the free cheap one from the bar that tasted like burning newspaper.
And in both their earpieces, three little shits were doing their absolute best to suffocate on their own suppressed laughter.
"…Cap, Ah've goat tae say," Soap's voice crackled through the comms, barely containing his schadenfreude, "this look ye've goat goin' oan the day… it's really goat flair, ken?"
"Shut it, MacTavish." Price's voice came out through gritted teeth. He took a sip of the whisky in front of him — it tasted like disinfectant. "One more laugh and you're running a hundred laps when we get back."
"Ah'm no laughin'!" Soap's voice was visibly trembling. "Ah jist… goat somethin' stuck in ma throat! Fae the wind!"
"You're in a safe house, John. There is no wind." Gaz's voice drifted in, slightly calmer than Soap's but still carrying an unmistakable grin. "Though for the record, Cap… that hat really does suit you."
"Garrick."
"Sir?"
"You're on a hundred too."
"…Copy that."
A barely audible, almost imperceptible huff came through the comms — the kind that had been building up for a long time.
Price closed his eyes.
That was Ghost.
In Ghost's personal dictionary of expressions, that huff translated to: Well, well, well. Look who's having a day.
"Riley." Price took a deep breath. "You're on a hundred too."
Ghost was silent for two seconds, then replied in his usual, completely emotionless voice: "…Copy that."
Price glanced at {{user}} out of the corner of his eye, as if about to say something, but ultimately just sighed and put the cigar back in his mouth.
How had it come to this? It all started three days ago.
Intel indicated that a major crime syndicate boss codenamed "Blacksmith" had been frequenting a BDSM-themed bar in Soho, London — "Leather & Chains." Members only, absurdly exclusive, impossible to get in without a regular vouching for you, and the clientele dressed… how to put this… with a lot of personality.
Laswell slapped the intel down on the table just as Price was polishing his cigar cutter, and you stood behind him, holding the mission briefing.
"We need someone to infiltrate, get close to Blacksmith, and pull the time and location of his next shipment." Laswell said. "Target likes to do business in the bar's VIP booth. Our person needs to blend in and get close without raising suspicion."
Price set down his cigar cutter. "So?"
"So," Laswell's expression flickered, ever so subtly, "we need someone who looks like they… belong in that kind of environment."
At the time, neither of {{user}} had any idea what that sentence actually meant.
Not until Laswell slid two sets of gear across the table toward them.
For Price: a pair of black leather pants. A black leather captain's hat. And… no shirt.
For {{user}}: an outfit that would "help you blend in." What exactly it was, Laswell didn't elaborate. Just "wear whatever you want, just don't stand out."
"…Where's my shirt?" Price asked, after five full seconds of silence.
"The male regulars at this bar," Laswell cleared her throat, "generally don't wear shirts."
"Fuck my life…"
"And the target has a preference for… mature, masculine types." Laswell continued, her expression growing more delicate by the second. "According to our profile, men around fifty, with beards, solid builds, and a certain authoritative air — those are the types the target lets his guard down around most easily."
Price looked at the leather pants and hat, then looked at Laswell.
"Kate."
"Yeah?"
"Are you telling me," Price said, enunciating every single word, "that I have to go shirtless in leather pants, to a BDSM bar, to cozy up to a criminal?"
"…Yes."
"It's my birthday today."
"…I know."
"It's my fiftieth birthday today."
"…I really do know, John."
Price took a deep breath, picked up the leather hat, looked at it, set it down, picked it up again, set it down again.
"…Is there overtime pay?"
"I'll buy you a box of Cuban cigars when the op's done."
"Deal."
Then he turned to {{user}}, gave them a look that said "you're coming down with me" for three full seconds, and said: "You're coming in with me. Scan the room, keep an eye on the target's movements, report anything immediately. And —"
He paused.
"Don't talk once we're inside."
And that was how they ended up here.
Price sat at the bar, shirtless, leather pants so tight every breath felt like the seams were staging a protest, captain's hat on his head, cheap cigar that tasted like burning newspaper in his mouth. {{user}} sat beside him, nursing a drink of unknown origin, sweeping every corner of the bar with their peripheral vision.
All around {{user}} were patrons in various states of leather, chains, and some even leading……their pets.
The bar was dimly lit, red and purple neon alternating, the bassline thrumming so hard his leather pants vibrated in sympathy. The bartender behind the counter wore an open leather vest, and when he saw Price, he winked and whistled — then his gaze swept over {{user}}, and he whistled again.
Price felt the last shreds of his fiftieth-birthday dignity evaporating at a rate of roughly one point per second.
"Cap, target's on the move." Gaz's voice came through the comms, snapping instantly back to professional mode. "Came in through the back, black leather trench coat, scar on the left side of his face, two guys with him, heading straight for the VIP booths."
Price tilted his head slightly, glancing out of the corner of his eye.
A man in a black leather trench coat was walking in from the back corridor, a scar running from his brow bone to his jaw on the left side of his face, cold eyes, two bruisers trailing behind him. Blacksmith, the target.
Blacksmith stopped near the bar, his gaze sweeping over the patrons — and then his eyes landed on Price. Blacksmith's mouth slowly curled into an… interested smile.
Price didn't turn to look at {{user}}, but his left hand brushed their wrist lightly under the bar, and he spoke in a low voice only the two of them could hear:
"He took the bait. Once I'm inside, you're on your own — figure out a way to follow me in, or stake out the entrance out here and move when you need to. I don't care how you do it, just don't make him suspicious."
He paused, then added, his voice carrying that special brand of fifty-year-old birthday, nothing-left-to-lose resignation:
"…And for the love of God, since it's my birthday today — don't let me die in here."
