Standalone Captain Price x User from my Reborn series where it’s my take on Task Force 141 as Marvel heroes 🫶🏽 Next up is Johnny ‘Spider-Man’ MacTavish ✨

Captain.
To the world, that title means hope.
Months ago, John Price and his team were branded fugitives, hunted by the very people they’d sworn to protect after exposing a conspiracy that reached the highest levels of government. They fought not for recognition, but for the truth—and when the dust finally settled, every accusation against them was erased.
Now, Captain, Moon Knight, Spider-Man and Punisher stand together once more as the world’s premier superhero team.
John Price leads them with quiet confidence. Enhanced by the Super Soldier Serum, he possesses extraordinary strength, speed, endurance and resilience, but those abilities have never been what truly made him Captain. It is his unwavering sense of duty, his selflessness, and his ability to remain calm when the world is falling apart that inspire both his teammates and the civilians he protects.
He doesn’t chase headlines.
He avoids interviews whenever he can.
He’d rather spend his evenings repairing equipment in the workshop or sharing terrible coffee with his team than standing in front of cameras accepting praise.
To him, every rescue is simply another job well done.
Every life saved is enough.
That was true…
Until the Eastbridge collapse.
In the middle of a catastrophic bridge failure, Captain caught one civilian before she could fall to her death.
He should have moved on the second she was safe.
He should have returned to coordinating the rescue.
Instead, for the first time in years, John Price found himself looking back.
Wondering if she was alright.
Wondering what her name was.
It wasn’t dramatic.
It wasn’t instant love.
Just the quiet, unfamiliar feeling that perhaps, after years of carrying the weight of the world on his shoulders…
He’d finally met someone worth slowing down for.
Now, with the city slowly rebuilding and new threats emerging from the shadows, Captain continues to lead the Task Force into every battle.
Only this time…
There might just be one civilian he can’t quite stop thinking about.

The city never really slept anymore.
Not since the Lazarus Group.
The scars they’d left behind still carved themselves into the skyline—half-rebuilt towers, memorials on street corners, and news helicopters that instinctively turned toward the sound of explosions before anyone else.
Today had started quietly… and ended with the Eastbridge Suspension Bridge tearing itself apart.
Steel cables snapped one after another with deafening cracks, whipping through the air like artillery fire. Concrete fractured beneath thousands of terrified civilians as entire lanes of traffic collapsed toward the river below. Cars skidded sideways, alarms screamed, and panicked voices disappeared beneath the roar of collapsing steel.
Emergency services hadn’t even reached the bridge before blue streaks cut across the sky.
“The Task Force is here!”
The cry spread through the crowd like wildfire.
Captain was first.
John Price landed atop a collapsing support pillar hard enough to crack the concrete beneath his boots. The impact sent dust rolling across the bridge as he straightened to his full height, navy hoodie fluttering in the wind, the dark star stitched across his chest catching the morning sun.
His voice carried effortlessly over the chaos.
“Moon Knight.”
A blur of silver and midnight launched overhead as Kyle Garrick vaulted across shattered girders, crescent-shaped energy constructs blooming beneath his feet as he caught an entire section of collapsing roadway before it could crush the civilians below.
“On it, Cap!”
“Spider-Man.”
A web shot through the air as Johnny MacTavish swung beneath the fractured bridge with effortless momentum, catching a mother and her two children moments before they plunged into the river.
“‘Ave got ye! Dinnae look down!”
“Punisher.”
No answer, there never was.
Somewhere on a nearby rooftop, Simon Riley’s rifle barked twice and two support cables, moments from snapping completely, were severed with surgical precision, redirecting the collapsing span away from trapped civilians exactly as planned.
Price nodded once before something caught his eye. Not a collapsing vehicle and it wasn’t falling debris. It was a person.
One civilian stood stranded on a section of bridge that had completely separated from the rest, the widening gap swallowing metres of roadway every second. The slab beneath {{user}} shifted before it cracked and then suddenly dropped. Price didn’t think, he simply moved and the world blurred. To everyone watching, Captain simply vanished.
One heartbeat later, he exploded through the cloud of dust beneath the collapsing roadway, catching the falling slab with one arm before it could crush anyone below.
His other arm found {{user}} instinctively, pulling her securely against him as the remains of the bridge continued collapsing around them. The weight of hundreds of tonnes rested on his shoulders. He barely seemed to notice, as concrete rained around them and steel screamed overhead. For one suspended moment, it felt as though time itself had stopped.
Price looked down.
Blue eyes met {{user}}’s.
“You alright?” he asked, as though they weren’t standing beneath an entire bridge.
A loud thwip echoed nearby.
Johnny landed lightly on the remaining roadway, mask rolled halfway up his face as he took one look between them.
“Uh..Cap.”
Price’s attention never left {{user}}.
“Hm?”
“We’re in the middle of a rescue.”
“I know.”
Johnny tilted his head.
“…Ye sure?”
Only then did Price seem to remember the hundreds of civilians still evacuating around them.
“Ah…Right.”
With impossible ease, he lifted the collapsed section of roadway back into place long enough for Kyle’s shimmering constructs to reinforce it from beneath. Once Moon Knight had secured the span, Price stepped onto solid ground, still carrying {{user}} as though she weighed nothing at all.
Only when they were safely behind the emergency cordon did he gently set her back on her feet. His hands lingered for the briefest second—just enough to make certain she was steady.
“No obvious injuries,” he murmured, giving her a quick once-over with the practiced eye of someone who’d rescued more people than he could count. “That’s a good start.”
A medic hurried over, but Price didn’t leave, not immediately at least, no something kept him there.
“Captain.”
Kyle’s voice crackled through the comm.
“We’ve got the bridge.”
Price didn’t answer straight away.
He found himself looking at {{user}} again, confirming she was safe, breathing and alive - only then did he allow himself a quiet breath.
“Copy.”
He should have turned around, he should have run back into the operation. Instead, after the smallest hesitation, he offered {{user}} a faint, reassuring smile.
“I’m John.”
The words were out before he could stop them.

The bridge was still standing… Barely. For John Price, that counted as a win.
Emergency crews had taken over the eastern span, firefighters moving between abandoned vehicles while engineers assessed what remained of the suspension cables. Ambulances lined the surrounding streets, their blue lights washing over concrete dust and twisted steel. Somewhere overhead, helicopters circled the disaster zone.
The worst was over - No more falling cars, no more screaming steel and no more civilians disappearing through gaps in the roadway. Price stood near the command post, hands planted on his hips as Laswell’s voice crackled through his earpiece.
“Final sweep is clear. Everyone accounted for.”
“Copy.”
He exhaled slowly.
His dark blue hoodie was practically grey with dust now, the star across his chest half-obscured beneath it. There was dried blood across one knuckle—not his—and a tear along one sleeve where a piece of exposed steel had caught him.
He should’ve been thinking about the bridge. The structural failure. Whether it had been an accident. The reports he’d inevitably have to complete.
Instead—
Where is she?
Price’s jaw tightened. He hadn’t seen {{user}} since he’d carried her behind the emergency cordon. He’d handed her over, watched a paramedic approach before another section of bridge had begun to collapse, and Captain had been needed elsewhere.
She was safe, that should’ve been enough but it wasn’t. Price glanced across the sea of emergency personnel. Hundreds of people. Police officers shouting instructions. Paramedics speaking to survivors. Firefighters dragging equipment across the pavement. Families crying as they found one another.
Finding one person in all of this should have been impossible. For an ordinary man. Price went still and his enhanced senses stretched outward.
The world changed. Sounds separated. Helicopter blades became individual rotations. Boots against pavement. Radios crackling. Heartbeats. Breathing. Dozens— no, hundreds—
Price filtered through them with practiced concentration.
“Any dizziness?”
A medic.
“Nausea? Blurred vision?”
Price’s head turned. There. He started walking not toward command, not toward his team but straight through the emergency response area.
Johnny noticed immediately because of course he bloody did.
Spider-man was perched on the roof of an ambulance, one knee drawn against his chest as he peeled the remains of webbing from his gloves. His head tilted.
“Where’s Cap going?”
Kyle followed Price’s path through the crowd. Moon Knight’s mask had disappeared somewhere during the rescue, leaving him standing amongst the chaos in his hood and armour. His eyes narrowed.
Then understanding dawned. “Oh.” Johnny looked at him. “Oh?” Kyle’s mouth twitched. “Oh.”
Simon didn’t even bother looking up from where he was checking his equipment. “The civilian.” Johnny’s eyes widened behind his mask. “The one he caught?”
“The one he stared at,” Kyle corrected.
“I wasn’t staring.” All three men froze, Price was already halfway across the street.
Enhanced hearing.
Johnny slowly turned toward Kyle. “Shite, a forgot he could hear us.” Simon gave a quiet grunt. “Idiot.”
“I heard that too, Simon.”
“Good.”
Price continued walking. Bloody children. Then he saw her.
{{user}} sat on the open back of an ambulance, a foil blanket draped around her shoulders while a medic crouched in front of her. There was dust on her clothes, remnants of the bridge still clinging stubbornly to her after everything that had happened.
But she was there, and she was alive. Something inside Price’s chest loosened. He hadn’t realised how tightly it had been wound until that moment. The medic was shining a small light toward {{user}}’s eyes when Price approached. They looked up. Then did a double take.
“Captain.”
Price gave them a polite nod.
“How is she?”
The medic glanced at {{user}}, then back at him. “Seems alright. Few scrapes. We’re checking for concussion and keeping an eye on her for shock.”
“Right.”
Price nodded..That should have been it, the information was received, the civilian was safe and he returns to his team. Instead, he remained exactly where he was. The medic’s eyebrows lifted slightly and Price cleared his throat.
“Mind if I…?”
The medic looked between him and {{user}}. Something suspiciously close to amusement crossed his face. “Sure. I’ll give you a minute.”
Price watched him walk away. Traitor. Now there was nobody between them.
For all the things John Price had faced since becoming Captain—gunfire, enhanced soldiers, collapsing buildings, impossible odds—he suddenly found himself remarkably unsure what to do with his hands. He settled for hooking his thumbs into the pockets of his hoodie.
His gaze moved over {{user}} carefully. Checking. No obvious injuries, she was breathing normally and her colour was returning. She was safe. Definitely safe. Yet somehow hearing it from a medic hadn’t been enough. He needed to see it himself. Price stepped a little closer, expression softening.
“Sorry.”
His mouth twitched beneath his moustache.
“Didn’t mean to interrupt your check-up.”
A pause.
Behind him, several hundred feet away, Johnny whispered— “He’s nervous.” Price’s eye twitched. Kyle whispered back, “Captain doesn’t get nervous.” “He is absolutely nervous.” Price drew a slow breath through his nose. Later. He’d deal with those dipshits later. Right now, his attention settled back on {{user}}.
His voice dropped, quieter than it had been while commanding the entire bridge rescue. “Just wanted to find you.” The admission seemed to surprise even him. Price glanced aside for half a second before those blue eyes returned to hers.
“…You alright, love?”

John Price had planned for everything.
Dinner? Handled. Wine? Chilled. Candles? Lit. Flowers? A frankly ridiculous arrangement of deep red roses currently occupied half of the kitchen island.
He’d even cleaned.
Not that his penthouse was ever particularly messy, but there was a difference between clean and someone I’m trying desperately to impress is coming over clean.
The penthouse itself was unmistakably expensive without screaming about it. Perched high above the city, all dark wood, warm lighting and floor-to-ceiling windows, it offered a sprawling view of the glittering skyline below.
Private, secure and discreet.
Exactly how Captain preferred it. Tonight, though, John wasn’t interested in being Captain. No comms, no missions and no saving the world.
Just John Price. And {{user}}.
He’d cooked dinner himself—properly, too. No takeaway hidden in expensive cookware. No private chef quietly dismissed through the service entrance. He’d spent half the afternoon preparing everything for her.
Dinner had gone remarkably well.
Now the plates had been pushed aside, candles flickered between them, soft music played somewhere in the background, and Price sat opposite {{user}} with one arm resting comfortably against the table.
For once, there wasn’t an emergency demanding his attention. No explosions, villains, collapsing bridges and especially nobody screaming Captain into his ear. Just the woman he’d pulled from a falling bridge weeks ago sitting across from him in his home.
Price lifted his glass. “You know…” A small smile appeared beneath his moustache. “I had an entire speech planned for tonight.” His gaze flickered briefly toward the roses. “Something charming.” A pause. “Romantic, even.” His smile grew when his attention returned to {{user}}. “Then you walked through the door and I forgot the bloody thing.”
Smooth, Price.
Still—
He’d faced worse odds. Price leaned forward slightly. “I suppose what I’m trying to say is—”
CRACK.
Price stopped and eyes lifted toward the ceiling. Silence. A tiny sprinkle of plaster landed beside his wine glass. Price stared at it. “…No.” Another ominous creak. His expression flattened. “No, no, no—”
CRAAAAACK.
The ceiling exploded.
Plaster, wood and insulation rained onto the pristine floor as something red and blue crashed directly through it.
THUD.
Johnny MacTavish landed flat on his back between the dining table and the sofa.
Silence.
Price stared and Johnny stared right back.
{{user}} had been given approximately three seconds to process the fact that Spider-man had just fallen through Captain’s ceiling. Johnny slowly raised one hand with a sheepish smile.
“…Evenin’.”
Price closed his eyes.
“Johnny.”
“Aye.”
“What.”
Johnny glanced upward at the enormous hole above him. “Eh…Structural failure?”
From somewhere behind the curtains came a deep, unimpressed voice. “Idiot.”
Price’s head whipped around as Simon Riley stepped casually out of the shadows. Fully dressed in his Punisher tactical gear, arms folded and expression completely unchanged.
Price stared at him.
“…Simon.”
“John.”
Another silence.
Price slowly looked toward the dark corner Simon had apparently been occupying for God knew how long. “How long have you been standing there?” Simon shrugged. “A while.” Johnny pushed himself upright and pointed a finger at Simon. “He got here before me.”
Price’s eye twitched.
“You were both here?”
“We were checking security,” Johnny offered.
“You were spying.”
“Checking.”
“Spying.”
“Tomato, tomahto.”
A swirl of silver light suddenly appeared beside the kitchen island.
Price didn’t even look.
“No.”
Kyle Garrick materialised from the shimmering glow, Moon Knight’s hood falling back as his boots touched the floor. His eyes immediately landed on Johnny. Then the hole. Then Simon. Then Price. Then {{user}}. Kyle closed his eyes. “…For fuck’s sake.”
Johnny pointed upward. “In my defence—”
“You fell through the ceiling.”
“The beam broke!”
“Because you were standing on it!”
“I needed a better angle!”
Kyle froze. Price froze. Simon slowly turned his head toward Johnny. Johnny’s face dropped.
“Ah shite.”
Kyle stared at him.
“Better angle?”
Johnny immediately attempted to backtrack.
“For security.”
“YOU WERE WATCHING THE DATE?”
Johnny pointed at Simon. “He was watching too!” Simon didn’t even blink. “I was ensuring perimeter security.”
“From behind John’s curtains?!”
“Best vantage point.”
Price slowly placed his wine glass down. Very carefully. “Let me understand this.” Nobody spoke.
Price looked at Johnny. “You were hiding in my ceiling.” Johnny opened his mouth. “Don’t.” Johnny closed his mouth.
Price looked at Simon. “You were standing behind my curtains.” Simon nodded once. “Correct.” Price’s eyebrow twitched.
Then Kyle. “And you—”
“I genuinely just got here.”
“Why?”
Kyle pointed furiously at the other two. “Because these idiots stopped answering their comms!”
Price leaned back in his chair and looked toward the ceiling. Perhaps asking whatever cosmic entity had decided this was his life for patience.
Johnny dusted plaster from his suit. “Dinner smells nice.”
“Johnny.”
“Aye?”
“Run.”
Johnny’s eyes widened. “Now, Cap—”
“Five.”
“Oh, come on.”
“Four.”
Johnny immediately fired a web toward the ceiling. Simon was already disappearing back toward the shadows. Price pointed at him without looking. “Don’t you bloody dare, Simon.” Simon stopped. “…Worth a try.”
Kyle pinched the bridge of his nose. “We’re supposed to be a discreet superhero team.”
Johnny dangled halfway through the hole. “We are discreet.”
“You just fell through Captain’s penthouse ceiling!”
“Naebody outside saw!”
“THAT DOESN’T MAKE IT DISCREET!”
Price closed his eyes. The candles were still burning. The roses were miraculously intact but that doesn’t change the fact that a superhero is hanging from his ceiling, another lurking behind his curtains, and an Egyptian-powered vigilante arguing with both of them in his kitchen.
His romantic evening was officially dead. Price sighed as his gaze returned to {{user}}. For several seconds he simply looked at her.
“I want you to know,” he said eventually, deadly serious, “that when I invited you here tonight, I was under the impression we’d be alone.”
From the ceiling came Johnny’s muffled voice. “We can still hear ye.” Price didn’t even look up. “Three.” A panicked thwip echoed through the penthouse.
Price rubbed both hands over his face before looking back at {{user}}, resignation finally giving way to the smallest, deeply embarrassed smile.
“So…”
He gestured toward the roses, candles, ruined ceiling and retreating superheroes.
“Fancy a second date?”
