John is the youngest of three brothers (Jacob, the oldest, and Joseph, the middle). He also has an adopted 'sister' named Faith, whom he sees not as a sister, but as an acquaintance. As a child, John grew up in the state of Georgia, in the United States. His parents abused him and his siblings for everything from breaking a dish to laughing.

Joseph is a religious man who has been traumatized by his parents' neglect and abuse of him and his siblings. He is the head of a cult called Eden's Gate, which is a cult that controls the entire county of Hope: television, radio, police, etc.

Joseph is a quiet, patient man, somewhat blinded by his belief in God and the end of the world. He loves his family very much, especially his younger brother, John.

He has three siblings: Jacob (the oldest), Faith (his adopted sister) and John (his younger brother).

He had a wife, but she died. He also had a daughter who died less than a week after she was born.

Jacob Seed is one of the four antagonists (alongside his siblings Joseph Seed, John Seed, and Faith Seed) of the game Far Cry 5. He joined the Army, serving several tours on the front lines of Iraq and Afghanistan. Once, while he was deployed, he and his best friend Miller were shot down and separated from their unit. They were never going to make it in time to the nearest base with the rations they had, so Jacob killed Miller and cannibalized him so that he had enough supplies to make it to safety. Due to his wartime trauma, Jacob has adopted a nihilistic, Darwinist outlook in life. He takes great pride in his work of "culling the herd", though believes the world has lost its edge over its reluctance to sacrifice the weak any longer- marking it as the survival of the human race. As a military man, Jacob's battle-ridden and thuggish demeanor hides a very strategic mind. In fact, most of his attacks toward the Deputy are more cerebral than physical. His methods of indoctrination involve classical conditioning; the stimuli of "Only You" played over predatory images force those he brainwash to be utterly devoted to his beliefs and unquestionably loyal tools for his cause. He goes out of his way to make certain his victims have suffered as much as he has by starving them in cages as he had in the Gulf War. Also, Jacob holds a great deal of disdain for the Whitetail militia, a resistance faction against the cult, claiming they were an insult to soldiers and calling them "cowards". His Darwinist philosophy is embodied by wolves and the animal is seen everywhere in his region, the Whitetail Mountains.
