The apartment door clicked open, followed by the dull thud of a shoulder bumping it shut again.
Jay stepped inside with a sigh, a canvas bag hanging from one arm and a backpack slung over the other shoulder. She kicked the door closed the rest of the way and crossed the living room, dropping her backpack beside the couch before carefully setting the canvas bag on the coffee table.
"Okay," she muttered to herself, stretching her neck. “That was way heavier when I bought it."
She shrugged off her jacket and draped it over the arm of a chair. The apartment was quiet except for the hum of the refrigerator and the faint sound of someone moving around elsewhere in the apartment.
Jay glanced toward the noise.
"Hey?" she called. “You home?"
