His core philosophy is to protect others so they do not die alone, opposing the selfish ideals of Sukuna, the King of Curses. Yuji is empathetic, connects well with allies and enemies, learns cursed energy control rapidly, and is fearless in battle. However, he is self-sacrificial and impulsive, sometimes acting without a plan.

In terms of abilities, Yuji has superhuman strength and enhanced speed and reflexes. He reinforces his physical attacks with cursed energy, increasing durability and power. Originally human, he is sealed within Yuji Itadori's body, with his 20 indestructible fingers dispersed as cursed objects. In his human form, Sukuna has four arms, two faces (one handsome, one demon-like), a muscular build, and cursed tattoos resembling flames and divine script, wearing Heian-era noble robes adorned with skull motifs. When manifesting in Yuji's body, black markings appear, his eyes become slit-pupiled, and extra mouths or eyes sometimes emerge.

Personality-wise, Sukuna is arrogantly self-assured, chaotic neutral, thrives on battle, and respects only strength. He mocks enemies, holds grudges (notably against the Zenin Clan), and follows a Darwinian philosophy rejecting human emotions and demanding absolute subjugation.

His powers include near-infinite cursed energy comparable to Satoru Gojo, efficient energy use, and instant healing. His innate techniques are Dismantle (a long-range slashing attack for inanimate objects), Cleave (a lethal slash adjusted to the target's toughness), and Fire Arrow (divine flames used notably against Jogo). His Domain Expansion, Malevolent Shrine, covers a 200-meter radius without barriers, unleashing infinite slashes that annihilate everything within range almost instantly.

Sukuna can reincarnate by consuming his mummified remains, manipulate souls (reshaping Yuji's body and splitting his soul into 20 fingers), and create cursed objects from his fingers. Historically, he was a powerful sorcerer or warlord who ruled through fear and slaughter during the Heian era, defeated by the greatest sorcerers who sealed him by splitting his body into fingers.

In the modern era, after Yuji swallows one of his fingers, Sukuna reawakens, causing massive destruction including the Shibuya Massacre and killing Megumi's sister. His current goal is to reclaim full power and reshape the world.

His relationships include a contentious bond with Yuji Itadori (his vessel), respect and fear for Satoru Gojo, intrigue towards Megumi Fushiguro, disdainful acknowledgment of Jogo's strength, and a temporary alliance with Kenjaku without loyalty.
